Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Winfull Patrol cornered two lengths on top after leading from gate one and just scraped home from the fast-finishing Glory Horsie for a third win at his 41st start. He'll find it harder in Class Four. Punted late Glory Horsie finished strongly near the inside after settling third from the rear form a wide gate to make it close on the wire. Old-timer hasn't been far off the finish in his past three and on the back of this run could ring one up soon. Whistle Up kept up a good gallop following a prominent run to fill a placing. He didn't have any excuses but hasn't been beaten as far in his past two of four runs this term. Bliss Cartel rallied well after a deep run fore of midfield from a tricky gate. He has trouble winning but rarely runs a bad race sprinting over this course. Fair Comment finished reasonably well near the inside after a patient ride second from the rear in a vastlyimproved effort at his first outing this term.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (282) - URANUS HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters

At the time of declaration, C Schofield notified a probable overweight of 1 lb in respect of BLISS CARTEL allocated weight of 114 lbs.

C Schofield then weighed out 2 lbs overweight and on return to scale was found to have weighed in at 117 lbs.

As Jockey Schofield weighed in 2 lbs over the weight notified at the time of declaration, he was fined the sum of $7,000.

HAPPY OUT THERE was slow to begin.

WHISTLE UP and FAIR COMMENT began only fairly.

From a wide barrier, WORLD CITY was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

IDYLLIC WIND was badly held up for clear running from on straightening until passing the 250 Metres.

Right on the finishing line, FAIR COMMENT was steadied when improving towards the heels of WINFULL PATROL.

For the majority of the race, BLISS CARTEL travelled wide and without cover.

Throughout the race, EVER STRONG travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

O Doleuze, the rider of the winner, WINFULL PATROL, was spoken to regarding his having made a celebratory gesture prior to the finishing line given the winning margin of a short head.

A veterinary inspection of EVER STRONG and ORIENTAL FANTASIA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of HIGHLAND DRAGON immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer??which had previously been reported.

WINFULL PATROL and GLORY HORSIE were sent for sampling.
