Recap by phillip woo

Dinozzo got up 120m out following a beautiful ride along the fence in third to notch a second win from seven starts this term. He acts at both tracks over a range of distances so another victory would not surprise. Marvel Hero ran on steadily from midfield to finish a non-threatening second. He's always a chance over this course but doesn't have many points in hand. Citron Spirit ran on well for a placing after travelling third from the rear. He's honest but might be nearing his mark. Favourite The Golden Age was stopping 100m out after going too quick in front carrying 11 pounds more. He's not one to write off. Helene Charisma made headway late after spotting them a head start in a pleasing first run at the Valley following a gelding operation but clearly needs a longer trip. Solar Hei Hei was retreating 150m out after going forward out deep to sit just one-off just behind the leader at the 1,100m. He requires some relief in the handicaps and is better at Sha Tin.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (387) - SIU SAI WAN HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1650Meters

HELENE CHARISMA, CITRON SPIRIT and MARVEL HERO were all badly crowded for room between BEAUTY PRINCE (T Berry) and HAPPY SPIRIT (W M Lai), both of which shifted ground.

Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that W M Lai had made sufficient effort to straighten his mount, T Berry was advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to keep his mounts on a straight course out of the barriers to prevent causing interference.

From a wide barrier, HANG'S DECISION was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After passing the winning post on the first occasion, SOLAR HEI HEI was left racing wide and without cover and passing the 1100 Metres was then allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead.

In the Straight, HELENE CHARISMA lay in under pressure.

When questioned regarding the performance of BEAUTY PRINCE, T Berry stated that it had been intended to sit outside the leader which was expected to be THE GOLDEN AGE.

He said however that when SOLAR HEI HEI, which was ridden by an apprentice jockey, improved its position to the outside of BEAUTY PRINCE at the 1200 Metres, he elected to allow that horse to cross BEAUTY PRINCE rather than ride his mount along in an endeavour to prevent that horse from crossing which he felt would have had the effect of having BEAUTY PRINCE travel too hard as it had travelled keenly in some of its races in the past.

He said BEAUTY PRINCE settled nicely after being crossed by SOLAR HEI HEI and travelled well in the middle stages.

He added rounding the Home Turn he shifted BEAUTY PRINCE to the outside of SOLAR HEI HEI and expected the horse to finish off the race strongly.

He said after changing his whip into his right hand shortly after entering the Straight, BEAUTY PRINCE came under pressure and then was disappointing in its failure to close off the race.

A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY PRINCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

THE GOLDEN AGE, DINOZZO and MARVEL HERO were sent for sampling.
