Recap by phillip woo

Backed late Startling Power pressed forward to stalk the leader Beekely, poked his head in front at the 250m and drew clear to notch a fourth career win on this surface. Veteran does pop up now and then and this was his day of reckoning. Elite Boy held off the late surge of favourite Goldie Flanker after moving to second 60m out travelling fore of midfield from a tough gate. He's caught the eye in both his runs on this surface from three starts and can salute shortly. Goldie Flanker finished strongly after settling rearward as usual following a slow start. He's returned to form in his past two and will pop up soon. Elite Spirit didn't have the same sort of dash as Goldie Flanker after travelling fourth from but still came home well for a Quartet spot. He's racing well of late but the big weight tends to anchor him on a win line. Beekely gradually faded in the drive. He's limited and inconsistent. Dragon Warrior was getting going late from the rear of the field.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (412) - PO YEE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

GOLDIE FLANKER was slow to begin.

LOOK ERAS began only fairly.

From the outside barriers, DRAGON WARRIOR and GOLDEN EFFORT were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Mr C S Shum, the trainer of GOLDEN EFFORT, stated that it had been decided to ride the horse more conservatively given its outside barrier and the race was expected to be run at a fast tempo.

He said it was hoped that by riding GOLDEN EFFORT more conservatively, it may allow the horse to finish off its race stronger than it had been at its recent starts.

ELITE SPIRIT was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, MASSIVE MOVE, which began only fairly, failed to muster speed.

Passing the 250 Metres, GOLDIE FLANKER was awkwardly placed behind ELITE SPIRIT when being shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running to the outside of horses.

In the Straight, ELITE BOY raced with its head on the side and lay in under pressure, resulting in its rider, T Berry, having to stop riding and correct his mount on a number of occasions.

Throughout the race, STARTLING POWER travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of LUCKY MASTER and LOOK ERAS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of AMAZING RACE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, AMAZING RACE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
