Favourite Simply Brilliant staved off Hezthewonforus whom he was giving away 13 pounds after hitting the front 220m out travelling handy one-off the fence for a third win from seven starts. Hezthewonforus might have gotten up for the win if not getting held up until the 200m following a prominent run after a sluggish break. He's only three years of age and has more improvement to come. Xiang Bai Qi just got the better of Circuit Glory following a one-off run in midfield to finish a distant third. He's flashed ability in two of his three starts and will get a further trip as well. Circuit Glory grudgingly gave way after rushing forward to sit outside Circuit Hassler at the 1,000m in a swift race. Rivet rallied from near the back to almost place. He's crying out for a longer trip. Last Kingdom was unlucky not to have finished in the placings after having to check twice in the drive following a rail run worse than midfield. He's heading in the right direction.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (739) - LUNG MUN ROAD HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1600Meters

CITRON SPIRIT was withdrawn on 15.6.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).

Before being allowed to race again, CITRON SPIRIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

HEZTHEWONFORUS shifted out at the start and bumped SIMPLY BRILLIANT.

DANCES WITH DRAGON and CIRCUIT GLORY bumped at the start.

CIRCUIT GLORY then shifted in, resulting in DANCES WITH DRAGON being crowded for room inside MORETHANLUCKY.

When being steadied from the outside barrier to obtain cover, FAST MOST FURIOUS got its head up on a number of occasions in the early stages.

Approaching the 1300 Metres, XIANG BAI QI travelled keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SIMPLY BRILLIANT.

For some distance approaching and passing the 1300 Metres, LAST KINGDOM travelled keenly and got its head up when awkwardly placed behind HEZTHEWONFORUS.

LAST KINGDOM had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 300 Metres and then passing the 250 Metres was checked away from the heels of MORETHANLUCKY which, when commencing to give ground, shifted out and away from HEZTHEWONFORUS.

After this, LAST KINGDOM again had difficulty obtaining clear running and over the concluding stages was awkwardly placed inside the heels of XIANG BAI QI and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.

HEZTHEWONFORUS was unable to obtain clear running until after passing the 250 Metres.

Passing the 200 Metres, DANCES WITH DRAGON had some difficulty obtaining a run and near the 150 Metres was shifted out from behind RIVET to obtain clear running.

DANCES WITH DRAGON then became unbalanced after bumping with FAST MOST FURIOUS near the 75 Metres.

After the race, M Chadwick explained that it was intended for CIRCUIT GLORY to be ridden with cover if possible.

He said for this reason he shifted CIRCUIT GLORY across to race behind SIMPLY BRILLIANT after the 1500 Metres, however, he was left racing wide and without cover near the 1300 Metres.

He said CIRCUIT GLORY consequently travelled keenly and therefore he allowed the horse to improve its position to race outside the lead after the 1000 Metres.

Also after the race, K Teetan stated that despite the race being run at a good tempo, MORETHANLUCKY travelled keener than it had in its previous races when ridden by him.

He said MORETHANLUCKY, after coming under pressure rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened over the latter stages of the race.

A veterinary inspection of MORETHANLUCKY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Mr F C Lor, the trainer of MORETHANLUCKY, reported that following the horse's disappointing performance, it is now his intention to spell the horse.

A veterinary inspection of CIRCUIT HASSLER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SIMPLY BRILLIANT and HEZTHEWONFORUS were sent for sampling.
