Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (113) - A.
LANGE & SOHNE EXCELLENT HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
PACIFIC MASTER, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 19.10.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left front pastern).
Before being allowed to race again, PACIFIC MASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
HAPPY SEBRING began only fairly and then was crowded for room between RADIANT BUNNY which shifted out and BELLAGIO which shifted in after being bumped by CITY LEGEND.
In this incident, HAPPY SEBRING lost ground and BELLAGIO became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by HAPPY SEBRING.
After this, CITY LEGEND was steadied to obtain cover.
EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE shifted out at the start and bumped FRESH POWER which was then steadied away from the heels of CORDYCEPS.
After this, FRESH POWER was shifted across behind runners.
From wide barriers, ABSOLUCOOL and FUN TIMES were shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
Passing the 1000 Metres, FRESH POWER commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of FORTUNE PATROL.
Making the turn near the 900 Metres, FORTUNE PATROL was awkwardly placed behind RADIANT BUNNY.
HAPPY SEBRING was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Passing the 400 Metres, FRESH POWER was steadied when disappointed for running between ABSOLUCOOL and CITY LEGEND which, when shifting to the outside of FORTUNE PATROL, was taken wider by that horse which shifted out marginally.
A veterinary inspection of FRESH POWER immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg.
Before being allowed to race again, FRESH POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Near the 250 Metres, FORTUNE PATROL was steadied when momentarily crowded for room between CITY LEGEND and PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT (A Sanna) which, after being badly held up for clear running, was shifted out before being directed back in to relieve the tightening to FORTUNE PATROL.
A Sanna was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground and causing crowding to other runners.
Passing the 250 Metres, RADIANT BUNNY raced tight inside CORDYCEPS which shifted in marginally.
HAPPY SEBRING, which was racing to the inside of RADIANT BUNNY, was shifted away from the heels of that horse and then directed to the inside of CARE FREE PRINCE to continue improving.
Near the 150 Metres, RADIANT BUNNY, which was commencing to give ground, was eased away from the heels of CORDYCEPS which shifted in after initially shifting out and racing tight inside BELLAGIO.
Then passing the 100 Metres, RADIANT BUNNY, which continued to give ground, was steadied when crowded for room between CARE FREE PRINCE and PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT which was directed in by CITY LEGEND which was attempting to obtain a run between ABSOLUCOOL and BELLAGIO.
SUPER FUN was unable to obtain clear running from near the 150 Metres until passing the 100 Metres.
Near the 100 Metres, CITY LEGEND was checked when crowded for room between BELLAGIO which, when hanging in under pressure, shifted out marginally after being corrected by its rider and ABSOLUCOOL (C Y Ho) which shifted in.
In the circumstances, C Y Ho was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that in similar circumstances he would be expected to react to his horses shifting ground and straighten them so as to prevent causing interference.
Over the concluding stages, CITY LEGEND was awkwardly placed behind ABSOLUCOOL and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
Throughout the race, CORDYCEPS travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of RADIANT BUNNY and CARE FREE PRINCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CITY LEGEND, HAPPY SEBRING and ABSOLUCOOL were sent for sampling.

Early favourite Happy Sebring got the gaps late near the inside with a strong burst after showing no pace early on to win going away 30m out. Absolucool found one too good after quickening nicely after a deep run fifth from the rear to briefly lead 50m out. He's a good-looking type and gear changes appear to have awaken him. Cordyceps stayed on well to just miss second despite a prominent run without cover the entire trip from a tricky gate. Punted late Bellagio came on well after a deep run with cover in midfield to just miss a placing. Post-time favourite City Legend checked badly 80m out when coming on strongly from near the back. Fun Times finished well down the outside after travelling second from the rear. Exceptional Desire was all that far away in the finish after dictating the run. Wait for a return to the Valley. Super Fun was badly held up and never properly tested following a rail run in midfield.
