Recap by phillip woo

Nordic Warrior quickened nicely following a midfield run on the fence to win going away 50m out at his fourth start and first at the Valley. There's clearly more improvement to come from the three-year-old. London Master ran on nicely one from the right to overhaul Shining On in deep stretch for second. He's near a bottom again. Shining On stayed on well following a one-off run fore of midfield to fill a placing. He's a 1,200m winner waiting to happen at either track and if things don't pan out in the short term, Class Five is looming large. Post-time favourite Nice Fandango knocked up in the last 100m after getting his own way in front. It's only a matter of time before he runs them off their feet for a win at this level. Manful Star gradually faded stalking the leader from a tricky gate. He's not genuine and may require a downgrade. Early favourite Diamond Legend never let down travelling three deep with cover behind midfield in his first run this term.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (129) - TSING LUNG TAU HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

GOOD CHOICE AHEAD was withdrawn on 26.10.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore tendon injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MANFUL STAR (C Murray).

Before being allowed to race again, GOOD CHOICE AHEAD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SHINING ON began only fairly.

From a wide barrier, KA YING BRILLIANCE was steadied to obtain cover.

Shortly after the start, LONDON MASTER was also steadied to obtain a position with cover.

Making the turn after the 1000 Metres, PEACE N PROSPERITY momentarily raced tight inside OSCAR MAGIC.

Passing the 900 Metres, SHINING ON was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of VICTORIOUS LEADER.

After the 700 Metres, ALL GREAT FRIENDS was left racing wide and without cover.

NICE FANDANGO lay out in the middle stages, particularly rounding the Home Turn.

NORDIC WARRIOR made the turn near the 500 Metres awkwardly.

PEACE N PROSPERITY, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence.

Passing the 200 Metres, DIAMOND LEGEND shifted out and was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of LONDON MASTER.

Throughout the race, MONEYMORE travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, G van Niekerk (PEACE N PROSPERITY) stated that it was decided to ride the horse more conservatively having regard to its wide barrier draw and the fact that there appeared to be good pace engaged in the race.

He said it was felt that if PEACE N PROSPERITY was ridden along to obtain a forward positon as had been the case in the past, the horse may be left racing wide and without cover and it was also felt that shifting across behind runners and possibly improving his position on the rail would provide PEACE N PROSPERITY with the best opportunity to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of DIAMOND LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
