Recap by phillip woo

Jade Fortune quickened nicely travelling behind midfield on the fence to overhaul the favourite Turin Redstar 50m out for an upset win. He was suited by the pace. Turin Redstar wouldn't go down without a fight after assuming the lead 200m out stalking Circuit Glory's genuine pace. It was a very good run in defeat and he'll be back in the winner's circle shortly. Super Turbo finished well to place after switching out from behind a wall of horses at the 150m following a patient run third from the rear. He's always a chance over this course. Sichuan Dar came up fourth best after fanning very wide rounding the final bend travelling one from the back. Time To Celebrate made headway late after settling last following a hampered start. It was an improved effort but he did get the pace to suit. Kingsfield found nothing when push came to shove following a one-out, one-back run. It was a below par effort but do prefer him over the Sha Tin 1,400m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (133) - KAP SHUI MUN HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1650Meters

As the start was effected, TIME TO CELEBRATE lifted its front feet off the ground and bounded in the air and then on landing knuckled over and bumped the hindquarters of SICHUAN DAR, causing SICHUAN DAR to become unbalanced and TIME TO CELEBRATE to lose ground.

KINGSFIELD and TURIN REDSTAR bumped at the start.

Passing the 200 Metres, SUPER TURBO was shifted to the outside of JADE FORTUNE after being held up for clear running behind that horse and KINGSFIELD.

Throughout the race, SEVEN HEAVENS travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

When questioned, Apprentice H T Mo (TURIN REDSTAR) stated that after obtaining a position outside the leader CIRCUIT GLORY, he was comfortable to race in that position.

He said however when SEVEN HEAVENS improved around TURIN REDSTAR after the 1200 Metres, he was equally comfortable to let that horse cross and obtain a trailing position behind it.

He said however that TURIN REDSTAR was racing keenly at this time and he would have had to heavily restrain the horse to allow SEVEN HEAVENS to obtain a position forward of TURIN REDSTAR.

He added rather than fight against his mount, he allowed TURIN REDSTAR to maintain its positon outside CIRCUIT GLORY.

When questioned regarding the performance of CIRCUIT GLORY, U Rispoli stated that he had to make some use of the horse over a prolonged distance in the early stages to obtain a forward position as he was instructed.

He said after this both TURIN REDSTAR and SEVEN HEAVENS improved to the outside of CIRCUIT GLORY which resulted in his mount not being able to relax as he had hoped.

He said because of these factors, CIRCUIT GLORY was then not being able to finish off its race albeit, in his opinion, the horse was still disappointing in today's race.

A veterinary inspection of CIRCUIT GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

JADE FORTUNE and TURIN REDSTAR were sent for sampling.
