Post-time favourite Midnight Rattler just out-duelled Red Horse after settling one-off in second carrying top weight to finally get back in the winner's circle at his third run in the grade. Well-backed late, Red Horse was just denied after poking his head in front at the 300m following a prominent run on the fence. He's caught the eye in his past two and will be saluting shortly. Newcomer Splendour And Gold rallied nicely to finish a close third after travelling fourth from the back despite a slow pace. It was a solid debut effort and he looks a nice sprinter/miler in the making. Coby Oppa kept on all right travelling one-off in third in a positive debut. He'll come on from this experience and should be useful at 1,200m or even 1,400m heading forward. Super Eighteen was on his tippy toes over the last 150m after setting slow fractions in front. He's nothing special. Super Model got going late after trailing the field coming to the final bend following a slow start.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (332) - HOI PING HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

POSITIVELY HIGH was withdrawn on 11.1.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen both front legs).

Before being allowed to race again, POSITIVELY HIGH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SUPER MODEL, which was fractious in the barriers, lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and then was crowded for room between SPLENDOUR AND GOLD and SUN FOXHUNTER which shifted in.

This resulted in SUPER MODEL becoming badly unbalanced, losing ground and having to race at the rear of the field.

In this incident, SUPER MODEL bumped the hindquarters of SPLENDOUR AND GOLD which became unbalanced.

ALPHABET INVENTION began awkwardly and then became unbalanced after shifting in and bumping MONEYMORE.

ALPHABET INVENTION then shifted out, resulting in DOR DOR shifting out away from that horse and becoming badly unbalanced after bumping with I'M THE CONQUIST which was taken in by COBY OPPA.

Shortly after the start, MR MAGELLAN stumbled.

Passing the 1100 Metres, SPLENDOUR AND GOLD was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUN FOXHUNTER.

Approaching the 900 Metres, I'M THE CONQUIST was left racing wide and without cover.

In the middle stages, ALPHABET INVENTION raced greenly and got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed behind MONEYMORE after the 900 Metres.

DOR DOR, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.

Approaching the 600 Metres, MR MAGELLAN was taken wider by DOR DOR which shifted to the outside of ALPHABET INVENTION.

MR MAGELLAN was inconvenienced passing the 400 Metres when taken out by SUPER MODEL which, when shifting to the outside of DOR DOR, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse which itself shifted out under pressure.

In the early part of the Straight, SPLENDOUR AND GOLD lay out under pressure and near the 150 Metres was shifted in away from the heels of SUPER EIGHTEEN to continue improving.

SPLENDOUR AND GOLD then raced tight inside SUPER EIGHTEEN passing the 100 Metres and close to the finishing line was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MIDNIGHT RATTLER.

After the race, J Moreira (DOR DOR) said although the horse was again inclined to race greenly at times, nonetheless it was disappointing in that it failed to respond to his riding when shifted to the outside of runners in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection of DOR DOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

MIDNIGHT RATTLER and RED HORSE were sent for sampling.
