Recap by phillip woo

Bingo won easily after assuming the lead from post-time favourite Multimillion, who ran off the track at the 650m, to notch a second career win at his 24th start. He made good use of apprentice Victor Wong's allowance but it wasn't a strong race. Yichun Blitz just out-finished Dor Dor travelling fourth from the rear to grab second 60m out. He's shown some promise in his three starts and will shortly be winning a race. Dor Dor came on well after settling third from the back from a wide gate to make it close for second. A move to blinkers improved him at his third run here but he seems to want a longer trip. Happy Boyboy stayed on all right following a midfield run on the fence to fill a Quartet spot. It was a positive debut but he'll likely need a bit more education. Early favourite Speedy Dragon eventually got going without ever looking a threat from beyond midfield. He likely needs to catch his breath following back-to-back wins and the rise in weight didn't help.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (387) - TSUNG PAK LONG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

GLENEALY GENERALS was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore).

Before being allowed to race again, GLENEALY GENERALS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

BLOOMING SPIRIT began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped HAPPY BOYBOY which became unbalanced.

MEDIC DRAGON began awkwardly and lost ground.

MULTIMILLION lost its left front plate at the start.

From the outside barriers, YICHUN BLITZ, DOR DOR and COURAGEOUS DRAGON were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 1050 Metres, LORIZ was bumped by MULTIMILLION.

WONDER EXPRESS, which was racing outside the heels of LORIZ, was inconvenienced in consequence.

Near the 150 Metres, BLOOMING SPIRIT momentarily raced tight inside DOR DOR which shifted in.

Passing the 100 Metres, SPEEDY DRAGON and COURAGEOUS DRAGON raced tight.

Mr W Y So, the trainer of COURAGEOUS DRAGON, explained that from the outside barrier, he had instructed K C Leung to ride COURAGEOUS DRAGON quietly in the early stages as he believed that too much use of the horse would have had to be made were it to be ridden forward.

The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in whilst they considered whether there were any circumstances which led to MULTIMILLION running off the track after the 900 Metres and consequently tailing off.

LORIZ, which was racing outside of MULTIMILLION, was badly hampered and taken wider by that horse.

WONDER EXPRESS was momentarily eased away from the heels of LORIZ in consequence passing the 900 Metres.

After interviewing D Whyte, the rider of MULTIMILLION and after viewing the videos, it was established that shortly after the start MULTIMILLION commenced to race with its head on the side and hung away from the rail and then making the turn after the 900 Metres hung out badly and shifted towards the outside rail, resulting in the horse not being competitive for the remainder of the race.

As there were no external factors which caused MULTIMILLION to hang out and consequently be eased out of the race, the Stewards declared weighed-in on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

The Stewards ruled that before MULTIMILLION would be permitted to compete in a race conducted around a bend, that horse must undergo a series of consecutive satisfactory barrier trials around a bend.

In the alternative, if MULTIMILLION is to be returned to the straight course at Sha Tin, that horse must undertake a satisfactory barrier trial.

A veterinary inspection of MULTIMILLION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

MULTIMILLION, BINGO and YICHUN BLITZ were sent for sampling.
