Recap by phillip woo

Jolly Convergence just held off the fast-finishing Little Wise Man after getting the gaps near the inside to hit the front 100m out from behind midfield. He had been disappointing but was very well rated. Well-backed Little Wise Man zipped home late to just miss after being ridden along to stay in touch fourth from the rear at the 800m. He's caught the eye in defeat in both starts and will be saluting shortly. Shamport stayed on a non-threatening third following a midfield run on the fence. He can find his mark in this grade. All Great Friends gave way inside the last 100m after dictating the run. He's not far off a bottom. Super Fun came up one-paced following a box-seat run. He's nothing special but is better suited over the 1,400m. Punted late Nice Kick came up flat settling one-out, one-back. He's more effective on the dirt. Favourite Wah May Princess faded after stalking the leader one off the fence. The rise in weight for back-to-back wins took its toll.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (490) - JARDINE'S LOOKOUT HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

DUKE WAI began only fairly.

WAH MAY PRINCESS shifted out at the start and hampered SHINING ON.

NICE KICK and JOLLY CONVERGENCE bumped on jumping.

From wide barriers, GOLDEN GLORY and REGENCY GEM were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Rounding the Home Turn, JOLLY CONVERGENCE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHAMPORT.

Passing the 300 Metres, WAH MAY PRINCESS raced tight outside SUPER FUN.

In the Straight, DEMONS ROCK lay in under pressure and for some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres was awkwardly placed behind NICE KICK.

Throughout the race, NICE KICK travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of WAH MAY PRINCESS, K Teetan stated that despite being hard ridden for some distance in the early stages WAH MAY PRINCESS did not show as much early speed as ALL GREAT FRIENDS which was drawn to its inside.

He said because of this WAY MAY PRINCESS was not able to lead as had been hoped.

He said after obtaining a position outside ALL GREAT FRIENDS in the early stages, WAH MAY PRINCESS came off the bit at the 600 Metres and then, despite being ridden along, did not quicken.

He said WAH MAY PRINCESS came under heavy pressure after the 500 Metres and then was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of WAH MAY PRINCESS immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination found the horse to have epiglottic entrapment and also showed a substantial amount of mucus in the its trachea.

The performance of WAH MAY PRINCESS, favourite for tonight's race and which had been successful in its two most recent races, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, WAH MAY PRINCESS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the race, it was reported that SHAMPORT had thumps.
