Recap by phillip woo

Strapping Bauhinia drew clear after hitting the front 200m out following a box-seat run to score a first win at his ninth start in a class record time. It was a huge improvement on his past form. Post-time favourite Virtus Star did everything right but found one too smart after a one-off run in midfield. He's run well in defeat in both outings this term. Early favourite Sky Gem finished well to fill a placing after biding his time fourth from the rear. He requires a longer trip. Home Win ran on steadily to finish a non-threatening fourth following a handy run along the fence. He should be able to find his mark shortly in this grade. Fortune Patrol made ground late after straightening third from the rear. He's a bit more effective at Sha Tin. Enjoyable Success ran on late down the outside without menacing following a patient ride second from the rear. Baby Storm faltered badly 100m out after straightening two lengths on top. He went a bit too quick in front.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (47) - STANLEY HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Meters

CHARITYDREAM was withdrawn on 21.9.20 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (injury to right hock).

Before being allowed to race again, CHARITYDREAM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

On arrival at the Start, SUCCESS ALLSTARS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that after the necessary consultations the horse was suitable to race.

Also on arrival at the Start, it was noted that WHO'S HORSE had lost its left front plate.

This plate was refitted.

WHO'S HORSE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

As the start was effected, THE JOY OF GIVING stood flat-footed and consequently lost a significant amount of ground.

As this was the second occasion within a limited number of starts that THE JOY OF GIVING had stood flat-footed at the start, the Stewards ruled that that horse must undergo a series of consecutive satisfactory barrier trials prior to being permitted to race again.

ENJOYABLE SUCCESS began only fairly.

From the outside barrier, SKY GEM was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

FORTUNE PATROL was also shifted across behind runners to obtain cover shortly after the start.

Passing the 1600 Metres, VIRTUS STAR shifted in and bumped HAPPY HOUR.

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, HOME WIN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of STRAPPING BAUHINIA when racing tight inside SUCCESS ALLSTARS (H W Lai) which shifted in.

H W Lai was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

HAPPY HOUR, which was following HOME WIN, was eased away from the heels of that horse in consequence.

FORTUNE PATROL was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn.

Approaching the 200 Metres, HAPPY HOUR was momentarily held up when improving into tight running inside BABY STORM which was giving ground.

A veterinary inspection of WHO'S HORSE and BABY STORM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

STRAPPING BAUHINIA and VIRTUS STAR were sent for sampling.
