Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Diamond Brilliant held off Family Folks for the win after shooting to the lead 200m out following a one off-run chasing the speed in third. He has thrived to win three of five under the guidance of Zac Purton. Family Folks made progress with every stride to finish a close second following a one-off trip in midfield. He doesn't know how to run a bad race. Wood On Fire found a couple just too good after a rails run in midfield. It was a good effort stepping up in class off a light weight. Simply Fluke rattled home late down the outside from the rear of the field to finish fourth without menacing the topthree. He continues to race well after ending last season with two wins. Favourite Ever Force had every chance following a box-seat run but only plodded when asked for an effort. He likely needed the run. Stock Legend ran on steadily without ever looking a threat travelling two deep behind midfield. He's struggling at the top of the weights. Hurry Hurry Gain had an excuse after getting caught deep without cover in a prominent spot. Decisive Twelve tamely faded over the final 150m after working to the lead from gate three. He's found it much harder carrying big weights in his past two starts.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (111) - SPEED VISION HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

C L Chau (SIMPLY FLUKE) was fined a sum of $2,000 for presenting himself to weigh out for this race in the incorrect colours.

SHINY ONE began only fairly.

WOOD ON FIRE and DECISIVE TWELVE bumped at the start.

SICOMORO and FAMILY FOLKS also bumped on jumping, resulting in FAMILY FOLKS becoming unbalanced.

From the outside barrier, SIMPLY FLUKE, which was leaning on the outside of its gate as the start was effected, was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.

From a wide barrier, TELECOM ROCKET was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

Near the 850 Metres, FAMILY FOLKS was awkwardly placed behind DIAMOND BRILLIANT.

Throughout the race, HURRY HURRY GAIN travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, A Hamelin (DECISIVE TWELVE) stated that in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount along in the early stages to take up a forward position and he was able to improve inside DIAMOND BRILLIANT to obtain the lead passing the 1100 Metres.

He said DECISIVE TWELVE commenced to travel keenly and would not relax as he had hoped when racing outside EVER FORCE.

He said due to the manner in which DECISIVE TWELVE was travelling, he allowed the horse to improve forward of EVER FORCE and raced on the rail after the 800 Metres, however, DECISIVE TWELVE continued to travel keenly and because of this, in his opinion, the horse was then not able to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of DECISIVE TWELVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of HURRY HURRY GAIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that an endoscopic examination of EVER FORCE showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, EVER FORCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
