Race Seven: (451) - THE CITI HONG KONG GOLD CUP - Class G1 - 2000Meters
GLORIOUS DRAGON jumped awkwardly and then was steadied away from the heels of MONEY CATCHER which shifted out.
KA YING STAR raced wide and without cover throughout the early stages and near the 1600 Metres commenced a forward move where it was able to obtain a position outside the lead near the 1100 Metres.
After the race, J McDonald could not offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of KA YING STAR.
He said his mount was under pressure a long way from the finish.
A veterinary inspection of KA YING STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of KA YING STAR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, KA YING STAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GOLDEN SIXTY and ROMANTIC WARRIOR were sent for sampling.

Golden Sixty just overhauled odds-on favourite Romantic Warrior in the dying stages after a handy run one off the fence to ring up a remarkable 24th win and two straight Group Ones from 28 starts. He's the best there has ever been in Hong Kong. Romantic Warrior found one just too good after taking off passing the 600m to poke his head in front of long-time leader Money Catcher 250m out following a prominent run. He lost nothing in defeat. Money Catcher wouldn't go down without a fight after quickly finding the lead from gate one. He was able to produce a better run at level weight following a failure lasty start carrying a big weight. Glorious Dragon fought just edged Panfield for fourth after a box seat run. He's run with merit in his past two of three starts following an injury-induced absence. Panfield made some ground without menacing from near last in the seven-horse field. He's crying out for a longer trip. Tourbillon Diamond never featured from the rear of the field. It was a rare below-par effort following a break. Ka Ying Star had an excuse after chasing the speed wide without cover for a majority of the race.
