Racing Incident Report
Race Six: (631) - RENFREW HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
FLYING ON THE TURF was withdrawn on raceday afternoon by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind).
Before being allowed to race again, FLYING ON THE TURF will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A AMERIC TE SPECSO jumped only fairly.
COMPASSION SUPER jumped awkwardly and then shortly after the start was bumped by HAPPY TRIO which shifted out slightly.
Shortly after the start, FLAMING EAGLE was bumped on the hindquarters when LITTLE FAIRY shifted in and away from NUNCHUKS.
From the outside barriers, JAZZ WITH DRAGON and STAR ASCENSION were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
WOOD ON FIRE raced keenly in the early stages.
Approaching the 700 Metres, A AMERIC TE SPECSO was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY TRIO when racing keenly.
Approaching the 250 Metres, HAPPY TRIO had some difficulty securing clear running when positioned behind LITTLE FAIRY and tight to the inside of A AMERIC TE SPECSO.
Approaching the 100 Metres, LITTLE FAIRY was steadied when crowded between HAPPY TRIO which shifted in and away from A AMERIC TE SPECSO and WOOD ON FIRE which shifted out.
JAZZ WITH DRAGON raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
When questioned, H Bowman (EXUBERANT) stated that after improving to the inside of OUR CLASS ACT near the 200 Metres, when OUR CLASS ACT shifted in, placing his mount in restricted room, he was unable to ride EXUBERANT out between the 150 Metres and the 50 Metres when he continued to race tight to the inside of OUR CLASS ACT.
A veterinary inspection of STAR ASCENSION and WOOD ON FIRE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WOOD ON FIRE, LITTLE FAIRY, A AMERIC TE SPECSO and FLAMING EAGLE were sent for sampling.

A Americ Te Specso came with a well-timed run from just worse than midfield and one off the fence to beat fast-finishing Flaming Eagle. It was his second win from his past four starts. Flaming Eagle finished willingly down the outside to make it close on the wire. It was his best run in Class Four after winning in Class Five three starts ago. Punted late, Happy Trio came up a short-head third after his one-out, one-back run. It was another good effort following his last-start win. Compassion Super lost a placing in the dying stages after leading from gate five and turning the final bend two lengths on top. His heavy weight took its toll in the end. Our Class Act ran on reasonably well to just miss a top-four spot after saving ground in midfield. He has given a better sight in his past two starts, and he is likely to be one to keep safe if he finds his way into Class Five. Exuberant made headway late near the inside. He tends to mix his form. Favourite Wood On Fire had his chance after his box-seat run, but he came up one paced over the final 100m. He could not add to a win and a second in his previous two starts.
