Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (651) - MAISONS-LAFFITTE HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 NOTTHESILLYONE (J383) L Hewitson Between the 300 Metres and the 250 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when improving into a tight run between HAPPY TANGO and WOOD ON FIRE and in this incident made contact with WOOD ON FIRE.
Horse No 2 SPICY KNUCKLES (H463) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 3 DAY DAY VICTORY (J423) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 RAGNARR (H297) H Bowman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 250 Metres was briefly held up when improving into a narrow run between LIFE OF STONE and WOOD ON FIRE.
Horse No 5 HAPPY TANGO (D075) K Teetan Shortly after the start bumped with MODEST GENTLEMAN.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 6 RUBY SAILING (H347) M L Yeung Slow to begin.
After the 100 Metres was checked when disappointed for clear running between HAPPY TANGO and GUSTY FIGHTER which was taken out by MODEST GENTLEMAN (A Atzeni).
A Atzeni was severely reprimanded.
When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight M L Yeung stated that after placing his mount under pressure in the early part of the Home Straight he then observed a run develop between HAPPY TANGO and GUSTY FIGHTER after the 200 Metres.
He said as a result he then shifted his mount out with a view to taking that run, however, when that run closed after the 150 Metres he was checked when disappointed.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.
Horse No 7 MODEST GENTLEMAN (G352) A Atzeni Bumped shortly after the start.
Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 GUSTY FIGHTER (J029) C L Chau Leaving the 100 Metres was eased to avoid MODEST GENTLEMAN (A Atzeni) when that runner continued to shift out.
A Atzeni was reprimanded.
Horse No 9 LIFE OF STONE (J374) K De Melo Jumped only fairly.
After the event K De Melo expressed concern with his mount's action in front when placed under pressure in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Before being allowed to race again, LIFE OF STONE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 10 SPEEDY FORTUNE (H097) E C W Wong After the event Apprentice E C W Wong advised that after travelling a short distance his saddle shifted back, resulting in SPEEDY FORTUNE bucking and being retired from the event.
The gear used by Apprentice Wong was inspected and found to be in good working condition.
Horse No 11 WOOD ON FIRE (C460) K C Leung Bumped after the 250 Metres.

Favourite Day Day Victory travelled in the box seat before hitting the lead 100m out and proving too smart to make it back-to-back wins. Modest Gentleman ran on well for second after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He is always a chance over this course and distance. Ace Talent lost second late after turning two lengths on top dictating the pace from gate four. It was another honest run over the Valley 1,000m. Spicy Knuckles made ground late near the inside for fourth without threatening the top three after travelling midfield on the fence from gate two. It was a better run following a downgrade. Gusty Fighter gradually faded after tracking the leader from gate three. It was an improved performance at his third straight run down in Class Five and first following throat surgery. Ragnarr dashed late with one wider out to finish next best after making his run second last from gate 12. He needs a better draw. Happy Tango kept on one-paced after a prominent run wide without cover. Punted late Speedy Fortune finished the course but was never in play after his saddle slipped 900m out.
