Recap by phillip woo

After a one-off trip from midfield, Beauty Bolt responded well to get up in the dying stages and deny Master Of All for a win at his second local start. Master Of All kept on gamely for second after claiming the lead from Riding Together 80m out following a one-off run sitting third from gate 10. He's given a good sight in his past two of three runs following a rise in class. Spirit Of Peace ran on nicely to just miss second after travelling third last from gate nine. It was a solid effort up in grade following a win. Well-backed Riding Together grudgingly gave way for fourth after reclaiming the lead from Ghorgan 400m out. It was an improved effort despite a return to Class Three following a win. Superb Kid came from last for fifth. It was a nice effort carrying top weight following a last-start win. Solid Car ran on without threatening after making his run five back and three wide from a tricky gate. South Star only plodded when popped the question.

GENERAL:

1.

Races 3 - 7 were each put back 5 minutes.

2.

After the running of Race 2, the track classification was officially changed from "Good" to "Good to Firm" This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Races 1 and 2 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm"

3.

Adjourned Inquiry - 9 February 2025 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 6 (412) OLDTOWN - The Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reasons for OLDTOWN falling near the 50 Metres and dislodging its rider C Y Ho.

Evidence was today taken from Jockey Ho, Jockey Z Purton, rider of SIGHT DREAMER, and Jockey M Chadwick, rider of ISLAND BUDDY.

The Stewards found that leaving the 100 Metres OLDTOWN endeavoured to improve into a run where there was not quite sufficient room to do so which resulted in OLDTOWN initiating contact with SIGHT DREAMER which resulted in SIGHT DREAMER maintaining its tight position to the outside of OLDTOWN.

As OLDTOWN continued to endeavour to improve between SIGHT DREAMER and ISLAND BUDDY, it then shifted in and away from SIGHT DREAMER after making slight contact with that horse again which then resulted in OLDTOWN making contact with ISLAND BUDDY when that runner shifted out slightly and due to both horses shifting slightly, OLDTOWN fell and dislodged its rider C Y Ho.

After considering all of the evidence the Stewards advised Jockey Ho that in similar circumstances he should exercise more care and to ensure that he improves into runs where there is sufficient room to do so, but given the contributing circumstances of the incident no further action was taken.
