John Gosden-trained The Fugue has been supplemented to next month's Longines Hong Kong Vase, 2,400m, ahead of tomorrow's announcement of the invited runners for the international meeting on December 9.
Recently third at Santa Anita in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf at the same distance, the three-year-old has won three of eight starts and was a Group One winner against her own gender at Goodwood in August.
The English filly and Australian stayer Alcopop were the only names added to the list of original entries, which the Jockey Club published on October 29, when supplementary entries closed at 5pm yesterday.
Closer to home, Hong Kong's international hopefuls were reported to have come through Sunday's prelude meeting well.
John Moore, who expects to have six or seven runners in the international races, said the only cloud over his team was the stayer Dominant, scratched from the Jockey Club Cup with mild lameness in his left hindquarters. Moore said on Sunday he had scrapped any idea of running Dominant in the Vase but was looking at bring him back to the shorter Hong Kong Cup.
"As I said the other day, we will get him scanned and see what the problem is and where he is at with respect to December, but everything else from the stable that ran on the weekend is in good shape," he said.
Jockey Richard Fourie is not in good enough shape to keep his engagements at Happy Valley tomorrow though, and scratched yesterday.
He suffered an injury to his right foot when his mount Lord Sinclair tried to get under the front of the starting gates before race 11 on Sunday. No bones were fractured in the incident and Fourie is hopeful of being able to ride again this coming Sunday. If not, he starts a suspension from next Monday which will allow him another week to heal.
