A three-year-old gelding by dual-hemisphere super sire Exceed and Excel tops the auction at HK$7.5 million in the Hong Kong International Sale 2013 at Sha Tin parade ring.

Bidding was fierce yesterday as owners vied for 16 unraced horses offered for sale.

An overall average price of more than HK$4 million was up on the sale held earlier this year.

"The sales topper was the horse we expected to be the highest priced lot," International sale executive manager Mark Richards said.

"There were a couple that made more than I thought they were going to."

Hong Kong Jockey Club executive director of racing Bill Nader said the sale had proven itself as a place to source quality horses.

"If you have a look at the big day, there are three ISGs rated over 100 and they are the sort of horses we want out of this sale," he said.
