Hot BMW Hong Kong Derby favourite Rapper Dragon has drawn perfectly in barrier four as he tries to become the first horse to sweep the four-year-old series.

The 2,000m start at Sha Tin can be a tricky one with a short run to the turn, but that gate means champion jockey Joao Moreira can put the gelding, who scored dominant victories in the Classic Mile and Classic Cup, wherever he wants.

Trainer John Moore said he was delighted with Rapper Dragon’s work on Thursday morning and believes he can make history in Sunday’s HK$18 million feature.

“It would be a first for Hong Kong, but he’s very capable of doing it,” Moore said.

The big-race handler has six of the 14 runners with Beauty Generation (12), Eagle Way (10), Booming Delight (nine), Helene Charisma (14) and Rodrico (seven) all drawing outside of Rapper Dragon.

Internet sensation Pakistan Star, the likely second favourite after finishing second in the Classic Cup, drew wide in gate 13 which should ensure Silvestre de Sousa takes up his customary position at the back of the field.

He is one of three runners for Tony Cruz, with impressive last start winner Gold Mount coming up with eight and Circuit Hassler drawing 11.

Danny Shum Chap-shing’s Seasons Bloom landed the coveted inside stall and can be right in the finish after placing in both the Classic Mile and Classic Cup.

The Peter Ho Leung-trained Limitless got gate five while John Size’s trio of Prawn Baba, My Darling and Dinozzo all drew well in three, six and two respectively.
