It is an intriguing day of racing at Sha Tin on Saturday, with plenty of Hong Kong Derby (2,000m) contenders on show alongside some smart sprinters in the feature Class Two TVB Cup (1,200m).
There are 10 races on the card and Owen Goulding is in the hot seat to provide an extended rundown of his selections.
Race 1 – Class Four TVB Lok Sin Tong Charity Corner Handicap (1,200m)
Vigor Eye has run well in all three starts this season and should have an easier time out in front from stall five. He can back up a recent good trial run to shed his maiden tag.
Race 2 – Class Four TVB Yan Oi Tong Charity Show Handicap (1,400m) – section one
Raging Rapids won from out wide three starts ago and has run with credit since from car park draws. He finally gets a gate and can take full advantage for John Size.

Race 3 – Class Three TVB Yan Chai Charity Show Handicap (1,200m)
Red Sea was Group One-placed in New Zealand before his import and although he has been on the sidelines for a while, his trials have been superb in the lead-up.
Race 4 – Class Four TVB Pok Oi Charity Handicap (1,800m)
Audacious Pursuit ran a screamer behind the improving China Win from a woeful draw last start and now drawn in three, he can strike with Ellis Wong Chi-wang’s 5lb claim useful.
Race 5 – Class Three TVB Lo And Behold Handicap (1,650m)
Sky Vino was desperately unlucky when second to Dragon Air Force on his latest start and with a 4lb turnaround and a good draw, he can gain due compensation for Caspar Fownes.
Race 6 – Class Four TVB The Queen Of News Handicap (1,650m)
Night Purosangue has been in consistently good form since a win four starts back and maps beautifully in the box seat behind duelling leaders Sight Dreamer and Foremost Teddy.

Race 7 – Class Two TVB Cup (1,200m)
Wunderbar has been done no favours by the draw but he has run with credit in better races this season and his last Class Two run saw him win in cosy fashion.
Race 8 – Class Four TVB Scoop Handicap (1,400m) – section two
Nyx Gluck conceded first run to the two horses who finished ahead of him last start when further back than ideal, and he still has potential in a modest race for the grade.
Race 9 – Class Three TVB Midlife, Sing & Shine Handicap (1,000m)
City Gold Banner was really impressive when defying both a wide barrier and making his challenge in the middle of the track on local debut. He can win again despite another frustrating draw.
Race 10 – Class Three TVB Miss Hong Kong Pageant Handicap (1,600m)
Glittering Legend clearly needed the run on his Hong Kong debut when better than the bare result in 10th. He will improve for that and his British form suggests he can be a force in the Derby if at his peak.
