Cody Mo Wai-kit scored a sensational treble when sending out just five runners at Happy Valley on Wednesday night thanks to the victories of Jumbo Treasure, Meowth and Flying Fortune.
Mo has enjoyed an admirable season, securing 45 winners in just his third term training in the city and beating a personal best of 40 winners in 2024-25.
Jumbo Treasure didn’t jump with his customary speed, but it did not stop him sealing the treble for Mo – as well as a double for jockey Derek Leung Ka-chun – in the Class Three Leighton Road Handicap (1,200m).
Leung elected to come out and around Endurance Express who was racing outside leader Honest Witness, and Jumbo Express was able to run down the leader by half a length and notch his fourth career win.

“I’m very happy with the three wins,” Mo said.
“We freshened him up and we had a good barrier and he got a good run. The freshen-up worked.”
The super consistent Meowth secured his second win for the season in the Class Four Racing World 50th Anniversary Cup (1,200m), giving Luke Ferraris the first leg of a double.
Ferraris showed just how talented he is at getting runners out of the gates when Meowth rocketed from barrier four, with the South African allowing the pace from out wide to sweep across him and settle behind the speed one off the rail.
Easing wider near the turn, he never looked in danger of defeat and went on to beat Gameplayer Elite by a length and a half.
“It was a really good win, he had shown he was coming back into form and he pulled the right gate and the right race with a nice amount of speed and he got into a lovely spot,” Ferraris said.
“He did it really confidently, so well done to Cody and his team, he turned him out in great order today.”

Ferraris went on to score a double in the last event of the night with Definitive for David Eustace in the Class Three King’s Road Handicap (1,650m), surging late to win by a neck over Romantic Gladiator.
Flying Fortune and Vincent Ho Chak-yiu Flying Fortune kicked off the first leg of Mo’s treble in the second section of the Class Four Morrison Hill Road Handicap (1,650m)
Box seating from barrier two, he was pushed along down the back when the pace increased, with Ho angling across heels to take over at the 200m to win by three-quarters of a length over Mighty Steed.
Elsewhere, Danica’s Choice gave Manfred Man Ka-leung the second leg of a double when sensationally brown-lamped from $22 into $6.2 in the first section of the Connaught Road Central Handicap (1,200m).
The victory ended a dry spell for jockey Hugh Bowman, who had 63 rides without a winner, with the son of Swiss Ace overcoming barrier 10 to overhaul Cloud Nine by three quarters of a length at his second Happy Valley appearance.
“I told the owner I was confident he had a chance because last time, he was close. This time, I was just worried about the draw, but he still won,” Man said.
Blossomy made it two wins from his last three starts for Man in the first section of the Class Four Morrison Hill Road Handicap (1,650m) with Leung aboard.
Charming Legend set a slow tempo before Joao Moreira pulled anchor at the 800m and tried to steal the race from the front, but Blossomy stuck right behind him and eventually took the lead to score by a length at his first Happy Valley start.

“He surprised me because his last win was at the other track [Sha Tin all-weather], we tried here and were surprised,” Man said.
Sky Cap recorded his third win for the season with Moreira on board in the Class Three Des Voeux Road Central Handicap (1,000m).
The win brought up 64 victories for Caspar Fownes, extending his trainers’ championship lead to five over second-placed Danny Shum Chap-shing.
“It’s getting crucial at this stage. I’m very happy for the owners, they’re one of my biggest supporters, the whole family. They’re the most beautiful people to train for – they let me do my job and never hassle me. I’m so happy to get the win for them and on top of that, to get the first win bonus, which is great,” Fownes said.
“The horse has done a good job for us. We dropped the horse back to 1,000m and I said to Joao just give him a chance to just get in behind the speed, one out one back. That was the winning move. He just lasted so I’m very happy.”
