Goodheart Success was patiently ridden at the rear, stayed to the inside upon straightening, peeled out three deep at the 100m and picked up nicely to get 30m out to land a betting plunge. Horse Of Fortune eventually crossed from a wide gate to sit one off in second at the 1,300m, worked to the front from Fat Choy Hong Kong five deep at the 130m and found one too good in the end. Speedy Longwah eased back to travel one off in fourth, swung the final bend with three wider out and closed off well to grab a placing in the final few metres. Favourite Anticipation eased back to travel one off in midfield, peeled into the open with two wider out and finished nicely to just miss a placing. Fat Choy Hong Kong led as expected, established a two-length margin coming to the final bend and was swamped in deep stretch. Selkirk Star enjoyed a lovely run on the back of the speed, stayed to the fence upon straightening and was stopping 50m out. He had his chance. Star Majestic was shuffled back to travel fourth from rear, rounded the final bend five deep and made a steady bid without menacing. Renaissance Art made some ground without ever looking a chance after travelling three deep third from the rear. Savvy Nature didn't fire following a rail's run in midfield. He's becoming costly.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (243)-AUSTRALIA HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1800Metres

RENAISSANCE ART and STAR MAJESTIC bumped at the start.

Shortly after the start, ANTICIPATION raced in restricted room between GOODHEART SUCCESS and SELKIRK STAR, both of which shifted ground.

In this incident, GOODHEART SUCCESS became unbalanced after being bumped by ANTICIPATION.

Also shortly after the start, FAT CHOY HONG KONG shifted out, resulting in SELKIRK STAR being awkwardly placed outside the heels of that horse.

For some distance approaching the winning post on the first occasion, ANTICIPATION was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPEEDY LONGWAH (G Mosse) which shifted in when not properly clear.

G Moose was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

Rounding the Home Turn, STAR MAJESTIC was awkwardly placed outside the heels of PREMIUM CHAMPION which shifted out.

Near the 150 Metres, ANTICIPATION was obliged to shift out away from the heels of SPEEDY LONGWAH which shifted out away from HORSE OF FORTUNE.

Throughout the race, LITTLE ISLAND travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, Mr D J Hall, the trainer of BUBBLE CHIC, stated that from the outside barrier he felt that as there was good speed in the race, it would be best for BUBBLE CHIC to be ridden from off the speed given that the horse was carrying top weight.

He said horses coming from the rear of the field in tonight's races had not been disadvantaged, therefore he felt that had the horse been ridden forward, it may not have been able to close off the race.

After the race, B Prebble was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of PREMIUM CHAMPION.

A veterinary inspection of PREMIUM CHAMPION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ANTICIPATION, GOODHEART SUCCESS and HORSE OF FORTUNE were sent for sampling.

After the running of Race 4, the track classification was officially changed from "Good to Yielding" to "Yielding".

This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 4 being run on a track rated "Yielding".
