Racing Incident Report
Race Four: (14) - OI MAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters
HAPPY OUT THERE and SANGRIA began only fairly.
CALIFORNIA ASPAR was crowded for room on jumping between BEAUTY CONNECTION and FLYING MONKEY which shifted out.
In this incident, CALIFORNIA ASPAR bumped BEAUTY CONNECTION which was then crowded for room inside OCEAN ROAR.
Near the 950 Metres, BEAUTY CONNECTION was steadied away from the heels of OCEAN ROAR (Apprentice H T Mo) which shifted in.
Apprentice Mo was advised to exercise more care.
Near the 850 Metres, BEAUTY CONNECTION and TRENDIFUL were steadied to obtain a position closer to the rail after being left racing wide.
Approaching the 700 Metres, FLYING MONKEY shifted out towards the heels of OCEAN ROAR which was shifting in marginally.
This resulted in FLYING MONKEY being very awkwardly placed close to the heels of OCEAN ROAR passing the 700 Metres and shifting in abruptly and bumping BUDDY BUNDY which became unbalanced.
Apprentice Mo was advised that whilst FLYING MONKEY had contributed to this incident by initially shifting out towards the heels of OCEAN ROAR, nonetheless he must ensure that he is properly clear of other runners when shifting ground.
After the 600 Metres, FLYING MONKEY was left racing wide and without cover.
Making the turn near the 550 Metres, TRENDIFUL momentarily raced tight inside the heels of BEAUTY CONNECTION.
At the entrance to the Straight, FLYING MONKEY was brushed by DR RACE which shifted out to obtain clear running.
Approaching the 200 Metres, BUDDY BUNDY, which was inclined to lay in, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FLYING GODSPELL which shifted out.
Close to the finishing line, HAPPY OUT THERE became unbalanced.
After the race, N Callan reported that CALIFORNIA ASPAR made an abnormal respiratory noise.
A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA ASPAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FLYING MONKEY, DR RACE and OCEAN ROAR were sent for sampling.

Dr Race got the pace to suit and came on strongly following a midfield run to mow down Ocean Roar for the win to add to some pleasing late-season sprint form over this course. He'll be at or near the top of the weights when he next steps out but should remain competitive. Ocean Roar was ridden to lead at all costs and was only collared late after turning the final bend near three lengths on top. He makes his own luck out front and is always a winning chance over this trip at this level. Beauty Connection came on well after settling behind midfield to grab a placing late. It was a pleasing first run following a stable change and he might be ready to live up to earlier expectations. Trendiful finished well after settling third from the rear from a wide gate. He's a winner waiting to happen if he can gain a downgrade. Favourite Flying Monkey was caught deep near the speed and only boxed on when push came to shove. He's more effective if he can find the fence.
