Recap by phillip woo

Ugly Warrior chased the cut-throat leaders Startling Power and Beekely, assumed the lead 150m out and held off the surge of Hearts Keeper over the final 100m for a debut win. He'll certainly come on for this run and don't see why he wouldn't fire on the turf as well. Hearts Keeper finished nicely after travelling fourth from the rear. He was suited by the pace but is always a chance on this surface. Plunged late Glenealy Prize closed off well to grab a placing after making his run one from the back. He's better suited over a mile distance. Sun Touch ran on steadily travelling beyond midfield after a tardy break to finish a non-threatening fourth. He isn't far off a win on either surface at this level. Elusive State was forced very wide coming to the final bend after a very deep run travelling third from the rear but kept coming late when put to the test. He's one to keep safe when returning on this surface from a better gate up to a mile.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (236) - CARNARVON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

GENEROUS BOBO was withdrawn on 2.12.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter BEEKELY.

Before being allowed to race again, GENEROUS BOBO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SILLY BUDDIES shifted out at the start and bumped HEARTS KEEPER.

SUN TOUCH stumbled on jumping and then became unbalanced after being bumped by BINGO which shifted out.

ELUSIVE STATE began awkwardly.

Making the turn near the 700 Metres, BINGO hung out badly, resulting in MASTER VIKING and ELUSIVE STATE, which were both racing wide and without cover, being badly hampered when taken wider still.

This resulted in MASTER VIKING and ELUSIVE STATE losing ground.

BINGO continued to hang out badly until on straightening.

Due to the horse's racing manners, BINGO also lost a considerable amount of ground.

Before being allowed to race again, BINGO will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial around a bend.

After the race, it was reported that SUN TOUCH had sustained a small wound to the inside of the right front heel.

A veterinary inspection of MASTER VIKING and BEEKELY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of BINGO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had sustained a small abrasion to the back of the right hind fetlock.

SUN TOUCH, UGLY WARRIOR and HEARTS KEEPER were sent for sampling.
