Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Seasons Bloom really got going over the final 200m after being beaten for speed early on to snatch victory from favourite Full Of Beauty on the wire. He had put the writing on the wall on opening day over this trip. Favourite Full Of Beauty was just denied after surging to the lead near the 100m. It was a terrific run in defeat. Wishful Thinker finished strongly to make it close on the wire after settling midfield on the fence. He's a smart sprinter in his own right. Rattan faded after dictating a genuine pace in front. The handicap conditions went against him and they might consider changing up his run style. Firming late Pakistan Star looked a fleeting chance at the 200m but came up flat 100m out travelling third from the rear. He likely needed the run but might have second thoughts of revamping his career as a sprinter. Plunged late Good Standing faltered after stalking the speed. He was up in class and the 1,200m was too sharp.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (107) - THE PREMIER BOWL (HANDICAP) - Class G2 - 1200Meters

IVICTORY shifted in at the start and brushed PAKISTAN STAR.

Close to the finishing line, PAKISTAN STAR was steadied when crowded for room between SEASONS BLOOM and WISHFUL THINKER which shifted out very marginally away from FULL OF BEAUTY which shifted out slightly.

The majority of the interference to PAKISTAN STAR occurred as a result of WISHFUL THINKER becoming unbalanced after making contact with PAKISTAN STAR and as a result being turned out across that runner which caused PAKISTAN STAR to lose its running.

As the Stewards were satisfied that there was no carelessness exhibited by any rider in this incident, no further action was taken.

When questioned, B Shinn stated that as IVICTORY was first up today since January, he was asked to obtain cover on the horse to ensure that it was able to finish off the race strongly.

He said it was anticipated that IVICTORY would be able to obtain cover behind FULL OF BEAUTY.

He said when PAKISTAN STAR, which was drawn immediately to the inside of IVICTORY, began well, he was not able to obtain cover behind FULL OF BEAUTY as was hoped and therefore, when racing wide prior to the 1000 Metres, he elected to steady IVICTORY and obtain a position with cover behind PAKISTAN STAR which resulted in the horse racing further back than had been intended.

He added IVICTORY travelled very strongly in the middle stages, however, in his opinion, was still disappointing as the horse did not quicken for him at any stage and did not finish off the race.

SEASONS BLOOM and FULL OF BEAUTY were sent for sampling.
