Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (346) - THE STEWARDS' CUP - Class G1 - 1600Meters
KA YING STAR began only fairly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of RATTAN which in turn shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of BEAUTY GENERATION which became unbalanced and shifted out, causing RATTAN to also become unbalanced when crowded for room.
When RATTAN became unbalanced, it shifted out and bumped KA YING STAR which in turn shifted out and bumped FURORE which raced tight inside SOUTHERN LEGEND.
Passing the 400 Metres, FURORE shifted out and brushed SOUTHERN LEGEND.
Passing the 350 Metres, CITRON SPIRIT was shifted to the inside of RATTAN to obtain clear running.
After the race, H Bowman was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of FURORE.
A veterinary inspection of FURORE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WAIKUKU and BEAUTY GENERATION were sent for sampling.

Odds-on favourite Waikuku came with a bold move widest out from the rear of the field to wear down Beauty Generation in the dying stages for the win. He's the new star miler in town. Champion Beauty Generation led and wouldn't go down without a fight to finish a clear-cut second. It was a better effort on his past three stars following a gear change to cheek pieces. Ka Ying Star kept on for a placing after recovering from a sluggish start to stalk the leader 1,450m out. He's a good miler but no match for the top pair. Rattan filled the frame but did have every chance following a box-seat run. He's genuine but not good enough against the premier sprinters and milers. Citron Spirit ran on late from the back to pocket some prize money but is not good enough at this level. Furore didn't fire following a one-out, one-back run. The mile's too sharp.
