Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (78) - LEI YUE MUN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters
Horse No 2 SAVVY DELIGHT (E386) H Bowman Near the 25 Metres bumped with CIRCUIT SEVEN.
Horse No 3 G ONE EXCELLENT (E359) B Avdulla Was bumped at the start.
After the race, B Avdulla stated that approaching the first turn near the 600 Metres his mount came under pressure and commenced to make an abnormal respiratory noise.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Before being allowed to race again, G ONE EXCELLENT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 4 KING ECCELLENTE (G264) L Hewitson Was bumped at the start.
Horse No 5 SERGEANT PEPPER (E432) Y L Chung Approaching the 200 Metres was steadied and shifted to the inside of KOWLOON EAST STAR to secure clear running.
Was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 HAPPY DAY (G119) C Y Ho Was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 KING INVINCIBLE (H199) Z Purton Was crowded on jumping.
H Bowman (SAVVY DELIGHT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of KING INVINCIBLE, resulting in KING INVINCIBLE having to be checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled.
H Bowman was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 25 October 2023 and to expire Monday, 30 October 2023 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 3 and the consequences grade
2.
Horse No 8 KOWLOON EAST STAR (E158) K C Leung Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with KING ECCELLENTE.
After the race, K C Leung reported that after jumping awkwardly, he made some use of his mount to take up a forward position.
He said as a result KOWLOON EAST STAR was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, KOWLOON EAST STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 SONIC PEGASUS (H279) M L Yeung Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between KING INVINCIBLE and SUPER COMMANDER which shifted in slightly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of SONIC PEGASUS was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, SONIC PEGASUS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 10 ACE TALENT (H046) A Badel Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 11 CIRCUIT SEVEN (D474) M F Poon Was bumped at the start.
Near the 25 Metres bumped with SAVVY DELIGHT.
Horse No 12 ISLAND SURPRISE (E429) M Chadwick Was bumped at the start.
Near the 600 Metres was bumped by ACE TALENT which shifted in.

Early favourite Happy Day showed a strong turn of foot to come from near last to run down Sergeant Pepper in the final few strides. It was his first win in 556 days on what was his first start for Jamie Richards and his first appearance over 1,000m. Sergeant Pepper did everything right but get the win after surging to the lead 100m out from the box seat. He is always a chance over this Happy Valley trip and appreciated Angus Chung Yiklai's seven-pound claim. Savvy Delight finished well from worse than midfield to make it close on the wire. He relished his return to his favourite course and distance. Punted late, Circuit Seven found a few too good after racing prominently. He has given decent sights in both of his starts this season and should salute soon. King Invincible settled two from the rear and stayed on well after copping a check in the home straight to be the next best. He should have finished closer. King Eccellente made some ground after his rail run in midfield. He is better suited over 1,200m. Post-time favourite Kowloon East Star rushed to share the lead with Super Commander and was on his tippy toes down the stretch.
