The prodigious Hot Delight continued his unbeaten streak when taking out the Class Three Werther Handicap (1,200m) at Sha Tin, helping Francis Lui Kin-wai clinch another double on Sunday.
Lui’s progressive galloper continued to impress when jumping as the $1.4 favourite and making it three consecutive wins over the course and distance, with Vincent Ho Chak-yiu on board once again.
After sitting off Pakistan Legacy’s lead for most the trip, the son of Too Darn Hot showed sensational ability as he accelerated over the last 50m and went on to win by one and a quarter lengths.
“Good horse, he’s a very good horse and honest. Even in track work he’s showed he’s improved,” Lui said.

Already a dual Class Three winner at three years old, Hot Delight has shown serious aptitude for a step up in distance as he matures, but he will be kept to the sprinting trip at this stage.
“I think for the longer term it’s no problem, but at the moment, I think just keep it to 1,200m. I have to discuss plans with the owner, of course, as he’s only three years old. We’ll see how he recovers,” Lui said.
Ho has been in the saddle for all three wins and is looking forward to seeing what he can achieve as a four-year-old.
“He’s a nice horse, we know that. But he’s only three, so we want to excel as much as possible, but we also want to keep him for his four-year-old season,” Ho said.
Hot Delight remains undefeated, enhancing his record to a perfect three-for-three! 🔥

The triumph capped 500 Sha Tin turf track winners as well as a double on the day for Lui, who also had Gold Patch salute in the second section of the Class Four Sky Darci Handicap (1,200m).
It was a gutsy feat from the Ardrossan galloper who was effective enough to run down Island Buddy at the 100m mark and score by half a length after receiving a check on the turn.
The three-year-old has now struck twice from three starts after recording a third placing last start when he carried 135lb from barrier 13.
Sunday saw similar conditions with a weight of 133lb from the same barrier, but the benefit of experience and a great ride from Zac Purton enabled him to overcome the circumstances.

“He’s a good horse, I think last time when he was second up, he was carrying lots of weight and had a wide draw, so he had excuses. This time he had more experience and that helped,” Lui said.
Lui also has no plans to step Gold Patch up in distance in the near future but is looking forward to the options that will be available to him next season.
“He looks like he needs further in time. I’m sure he will get a mile next season, but at the moment we’ll keep him at the winning distance,” Lui said.
“He will keep improving this season but next season we’ll have even more fun with him.”
Purton went on to secure a double with Aerovolanic in the Class Three Rapper Dragon Handicap (1,400m).
