Recap by phillip woo

Family Leader really got going 100m out to claim victory in the final few metres after getting shuffled back to midfield entering the straight. He had been building to a win and the 1,800m was a perfect distance. Green Dispatch kept on gamely after having to work to lead from Mister Monte 1,300m out. He had tipped his hat and a big run was in the cards following a downgrade last time out. Crown Avenue surged late to snatch third after saving ground worse than midfield. He's been racing consistently well of late without winning. Firming favourite Bundle Of Energy was stirred into action 600m out from behind midfield but his run came up flat 100m out. He keeps filling the frame without threatening on a win line and likely needs to drop lower in the handicaps. Plunged late Mister Monte grudgingly gave way after handing up the front to assume a speed-tracking role 1,300m out. A drop into Class Five might be what he needs.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (781) - WONG CHUK WAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Meters

FAMILY LEADER began awkwardly and then bumped with BUNDLE OF ENERGY.

From the outside barriers, KING'S MAN, GENTRY, VICTORIOUS SEEKER and CHEERFUL STAR were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After travelling a short distance, CROWN AVENUE, which was being steadied to obtain cover, momentarily raced tight between VILLA FIONN which was awkwardly placed outside MISTER MONTE and YOU HAVE MY WORD which was taken in by BUNDLE OF ENERGY.

Near the 450 Metres, FAMILY LEADER was awkwardly placed behind VILLA FIONN.

Passing the 200 Metres, VICTORIOUS SEEKER raced tight outside GENTRY which shifted out.

When questioned regarding the performance of YOU HAVE MY WORD, Z Purton said that the horse was not able to hold its position inside GENTRY passing the winning post on the first occasion as it was not travelling well.

He said because of this he shifted YOU HAVE MY WORD away from the rail to follow VICTORIOUS SEEKER.

He said at no stage of the race did YOU HAVE MY WORD travel well and the horse came under heavy pressure prior to the 600 Metres.

He said he rode YOU HAVE MY WORD aggressively after the 600 Metres, however, the horse commenced to give ground and KING'S MAN, which had been racing behind his mount, made ground easily to the inside of YOU HAVE MY WORD.

He said he continued to ride YOU HAVE MY WORD along rounding the Home Turn, however, the horse continued to give ground and as YOU HAVE MY WORD had previously bled, he eased it down in the Straight as he had concerns that the horse may again have bled.

A veterinary inspection of YOU HAVE MY WORD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of YOU HAVE MY WORD, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, YOU HAVE MY WORD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

BUNDLE OF ENERGY, FAMILY LEADER and GREEN DISPATCH were sent for sampling.
