Recap by phillip woo

Righteous Mate quickened nicely following a midfield run on the fence to win going away 100m out. He's improved since joining the Tony Millard yard in March but isn't genuine. Kiram kept on well following a box-seat run. It was a good run first-up this term and he's clearly a winner waiting to happen in this grade. Favourite Bundle Of Energy finished well down the outside after straightening two from the back to finish level with Royal Racer for third. Royal Racer ended up dead-heating for third after circling the field at the 650m following a deep run third from the rear to briefly lead at the 200m. He can bob up at any moment. Murray's Partners gradually faded after stalking the leader Curling Luxury from a middle gate. It was a better run following an even effort in midfield last month at Sha Tin. Ho Ho Feel made good headway late from near the back. He's in the right grade and can breakthrough soon over the 1,800m or 2,000m at either track.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (99) - SHEK LEI PUI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

HO HO FEEL lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently was slow to begin.

KIRAM shifted out at the start and bumped MASTER ROMAN.

FAITHFUL TRINITY shifted in at the start and bumped RIGHTEOUS MATE which became unbalanced, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of MURRAY'S PARTNERS which also became unbalanced.

From wide barriers, ROYAL RACER and ELECTRIC LIGHTNING were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

Despite being vigorously ridden along for some distance in the early stages, DIAMOND LEGEND failed to muster speed and then after the 1000 Metres was left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, MASTER ROMAN momentarily raced tight inside MURRAY'S PARTNERS which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the tightening to MASTER ROMAN.

When MURRAY'S PARTNERS was shifted out, FAITHFUL TRINITY, which was racing to that horse's outside, was taken wider.

After this, when being steadied to obtain cover behind MURRAY'S PARTNERS, MASTER ROMAN travelled keenly.

Approaching the 1100 Metres, BUNDLE OF ENERGY was awkwardly placed behind MASTER ROMAN.

ROYAL RACER, which was following, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of BUNDLE OF ENERGY in consequence.

ELECTRIC LIGHTNING, which was following ROYAL RACER, was also inconvenienced.

FAITHFUL TRINITY travelled wide and without cover until approaching the 1000 Metres at which time the horse was allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead.

Approaching the 1000 Metres, MURRAY'S PARTNERS raced in restricted room inside the heels of FAITHFUL TRINITY which lay in.

Near the 650 Metres, ELECTRIC LIGHTNING was inconvenienced when taken wider by BUNDLE OF ENERGY which shifted to the outside of MASTER ROMAN to commence improving.

Then making the turn after the 600 Metres, ELECTRIC LIGHTNING was further inconvenienced when bumped by BUNDLE OF ENERGY which itself raced tight outside MASTER ROMAN which shifted out.

Passing the 500 Metres, FULL POWER and BUNDLE OF ENERGY raced tight as both horses attempted to improve into tight running between RIGHTEOUS MATE and MASTER ROMAN.

Near the 450 Metres, ROYAL RACER became unbalanced when bumped by DIAMOND LEGEND which shifted out.

Passing the 400 Metres, KIRAM raced tight inside FAITHFUL TRINITY which got its head on the side and lay in towards the heels of CURLING LUXURY.

At the entrance to the Straight, MASTER ROMAN was shifted out away from the heels of BUNDLE OF ENERGY (J Moreira) which shifted to the outside of MURRAY'S PARTNERS to obtain clear running.

J Moreira was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

After the race, Apprentice H T Mo was unable to offer any real excuse for the disappointing performance of CURLING LUXURY.

He said whilst the circumstances of the race were different from its most recent start, in his opinion, the horse may not have backed up from that run 10 days ago.

A veterinary inspection of CURLING LUXURY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of FAITHFUL TRINITY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BUNDLE OF ENERGY, RIGHTEOUS MATE and KIRAM were sent for sampling.
