Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (663)-BALSAMINE HANDICAP (Sec2) - Class 4 - 1200Metres
SPRING WIN began awkwardly, made contact with MORDICUS and then shifted out and bumped with BRIGHT STAR which also began awkwardly.HAPPY OUT THERE got its head up when steadied at the start.
GRACIOUS RYDER shifted out at the start and made contact with the hindquarters of RICHCITY FORTUNE which then shifted in, resulting in GRACIOUS RYDER being taken in onto LE PANACHE which was inconvenienced.
GRACIOUS RYDER proved difficult to settle approaching the first turn and after passing the 900 Metres had to be steadied away from the heels of ACCESSION YEARS which was steadied behind the leader RICHCITY FORTUNE.
After leaving the 900 Metres, RED ELYSEES and HARBOUR NOVA bumped, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
HARBOUR NOVA lost its left front plate and HAPPY OUT THERE lost its right front plate after the 900 Metres.
Soon after straightening, ENDEARING and GRACIOUS RYDER made contact as GRACIOUS RYDER attempted to shift out from behind MORDICUS.
GRACIOUS RYDER was then held up before gaining clear running between MORDICUS and ENDEARING approaching the 200 Metres.
Throughout the race, BRIGHT STAR travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on HARBOUR NOVA at the request of Trainer P O'Sullivan.
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, HARBOUR NOVA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
ENDEARING, RICHCITY FORTUNE and MORDICUS were sent for sampling.

Well-punted late, Richcity Fortune was nicely rated on the front and kept up a strong gallop for a second win from 16 starts. The key was Dylan Mo Hin-tung's feather weight. Mordicus stalked the speed and held on gamely for second in his best run from six starts. He gave the winner too much weight, 23 to be exact. He's had many setbacks but appears to have some ability. Spring Win came on nicely with two wider out after travelling third from the rear to grab a placing 30m out in a solid first run following a failure in January with blood in his trachea. If he can stay sound, he'll be winning shortly. Harbour Nova produced only a grinding effort after travelling three deep with cover beyond midfield. He ran below expectations despite the downgrade but there still might be a race for him down the road at this level. Gracious Ryder stayed on all right following a midfield run along the fence. He's shown some ability in his three starts but still needs to fill out more. Favourite Endearing was a disappointment following a prominent run despite the claim well utilised.
