Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (692) - SHEARWATER HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
EXCEL DELIGHT was withdrawn on 26.5.20 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter STOCK LEGEND (C Schofield).
Before being allowed to race again, EXCEL DELIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
STOCK LEGEND was slow to begin.
PEARL CHAMPION and MASTERWORK bumped at the start.
JADE THEATRE shifted out at the start and bumped SUNSHINE UNIVERSE.
After this, despite being hard ridden in the early stages, SUNSHINE UNIVERSE failed to muster speed and then in the middle stages became detached from the field.
Approaching the 800 Metres, STOCK LEGEND momentarily raced in restricted room inside ADONIS which was racing tight inside ANONYMA.
Approaching the 600 Metres, JADE THEATRE was steadied away from the heels of ANONYMA after being awkwardly placed behind that horse which was giving ground.
Near the 350 Metres, MASTERWORK shifted out and made contact with THOU SHALL SING.
Throughout the race, GOOD LUCK MONEY travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of STOCK LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
THOU SHALL SING and PEARL CHAMPION were sent for sampling.

Well-fancied to jump favourite Thou Shall Sing ran on well from midfield to wear down Pearl Champion to continue his superb form on the dirt following a stable change. However, it wasn't a quality Class Four. Pearl Champion did everything right but get the win after surging to the front near the 100m following a rail run better than midfield. It was a solid effort following a bone surgery in December. Hit late in betting, Adonis ran on steadily from behind midfield to fill a placing. It wasn't a bad run but he's a Class Five horse. Early favourite Demons Rock was yielding ground 100m out after taking over the front from Viva Council 400m out. It wasn't a bad effort with a return to Class Four. Jade Theatre ran on without menacing after making his run third from the rear. He's beyond his better days and prefers the Valley track. Viva Council was on his tippy toes 150m out after working hard to find the front 700m out from a wide gate. He had an excuse.
