Recap by phillip woo
Early favourite Alloy King easily overhauled long-time leader Day Day Rich approaching the 60m to salute for a second time from his past three starts following a dream run on the leader's back. He did it in a new class record time and can win again. Post-time favourite Day Day Rich gave a cheeky sight shooting straight to the front from gate one. He was fitter for a run and had shown a bit more spark in his past two starts. Goodmanship ran on steadily to grab third 50m out travelling better than midfield one off the fence. He has the tools to get away with a race shortly in this grade. Sunny Smile came from last at the head of the straight to win a tight photo for fourth. It was his best run to date from 10 starts. Mudita ran on OK following a rails run in midfield. He needed the outing. Who Loves The Ace made noticeable ground along the inside settling second one from the rear after jumping slowly. He's shown progress in back-to-back runs at this level. Shanghai Power gradually faded after getting caught three deep early on rolling forward to stalk the leader. It wasn't a bad run but he's better suited at 1,000m. Golden Mission ran on without threatening after a wide run behind midfield. He had an excuse.
