Racing Incident Report
Race Two: (321)-CANAL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Metres
PENGLAI XIANZI began awkwardly and shortly after the start was inconvenienced when OSCAR MIRACLE shifted out.From wide barriers, DRAGON HARMONY, THIS IS GLADIATOR and MI SAVVY BOY were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
For some distance after the 1100 Metres, PENGLAI XIANZI got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GO-GETTER and again got its head up on a number of occasions approaching the 600 Metres when awkwardly placed behind GO-GETTER.
When questioned, R Fourie (ROCK THE TREE) stated that approaching the winning post on the first occasion he attempted to obtain a position behind GO-GETTER and in front of PENGLAI XIANZI.
He said however that passing the winning post on the first occasion GO-GETTER was not improving its position and consequently this shortened the margin between GO-GETTER and PENGLAI XIANZI and he was therefore not able to shift ROCK THE TREE in to race behind GO-GETTER.
He added GO-GETTER then commenced to travel better and was able to maintain its position which meant that he was not able to improve around GO-GETTER and obtain a position in advance of that horse and consequently ROCK THE TREE was left racing in a three wide position without cover throughout the race.
A veterinary inspection of ROCK THE TREE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
KITAYA, HO HO FEEL and OSCAR MIRACLE were sent for sampling.

Ho Ho Feel settled midfield along the rail, shifted six deep upon straightening and let down well to get up in the final few strides with a move to a hood and crossed noseband. Oscar Miracle set a slow pace on the lead, cornered two lengths on top and went down fighting. Drifting favourite Kitaya settled in the box-seat, straightened four deep and stayed on reasonably well to make it close on the wire. Penglai Xianzi closed off well three deep to snatch a Quartet spot after travelling fourth from the rear after a tardy break. Addole only held his ground with three wider out following a handy run with cover. Go-Getter made a minor bid without menacing five deep following a one-off run worse than midfield. Rising Power made only a mild bid near the inside after travelling behind midfield along the fence. He wasn't suited by the slow pace. Punted late, Rock The Tree was posted deep without cover in midfield and failed to let down with one wider out in the drive to the wire.
