Japanese superstar Maurice made it back-to-back Group Ones in Hong Kong when easily getting up 190m out following a prominent run with cover as the favourite. Sensationally- backed at the jump, Contentment enjoyed the run of the race and stayed one well one off the fence to grab second 150m out. Thumped late in betting, Packing Pins settled midfield on the fence, straightened four deep and closed off well to grab a placing 50m out. Beauty Only settled fourth from the rear, peeled widest out at the 400m and ran on steadily to finish a non-threatening fourth. Safety Check ran on steadily without menacing following a one off run travelling worse than midfield. Beauty Flame knocked up over the final 150m after dictating a steady pace. Gun Pit made some ground late after travelling third from the rear. Giant Treasure got going when the race was all but over with one wider out after travelling second from the rear. Rewarding Hero was only plodding over the final 200m after sitting one off the fence in second. Secret Weapon faded after covering ground in midfield the entire trip. Bow Creek was gone after straightening.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (608)-THE CHAMPIONS MILE - Group One - 1600Metres

SAFETY CHECK and GUN PIT were crowded for room shortly after the start between BEAUTY FLAME and MAURICE, both of which shifted ground.

SECRET WEAPON was bumped on jumping by GIANT TREASURE which shifted in, DUNDONNELL got its head up on a number of occasions in the early stages when being steadied to obtain cover from the outside barrier.

Also from a wide barrier, BOW CREEK was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After the 1400 Metres, GUN PIT travelled keenly.

Throughout the race, SECRET WEAPON travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of GIANT TREASURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

MAURICE and CONTENTMENT were sent for sampling.
