Back on his favourite surface following two fitness improving runs on the turf, Vanilla timed thing right to get up in the final few metres after a deep run with cover behind midfield for a fourth career win. He's always a chance on this surface. Imperial Gallantry came on strongly third from the rear to make it close on the wire in a solid first run on this surface despite a rise in grade for a win on turf. It's opened up options on both surfaces for the five-year-old who has returned in great form this term. Northern Falls kept on gamely from midfield to just miss second in a blanket finish after being restrained in the run instead of going forward as most expected. Goal For Gold grudgingly gave way after hitting the front 150m out following a prominent run with cover. It was another good run in defeat and he'll be winning shortly at 1,200m to a mile on either surface. Sharp Sailor was getting to the line reasonably well after having to switch off a tiring Big Bang Bong 250m out following a one-off run behind midfield in his dirt debut. He's looking for 1,800m or further on either surface. Silverfield clipped heels and dumped his rider 1,300m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (089)-PING SHAN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Metres

HAPPY CONTENDER and SURE PEACE were slow to begin.

NORTHERN FALLS began only fairly and then when being ridden along in an endeavour to obtain a forward position was crowded for room between GOAL FOR GOLD and NOBLE ALPHA which shifted out.

SILVERFIELD and DASHING KING bumped at the start.

Making the turn after passing the winning post on the first occasion, SKYROCKETS was crowded for room inside IMPERIAL GALLANTRY which initially got its head on the side and lay in and then a short distance afterwards raced close to the heels of NOBLE ALPHA.

HAPPY CONTENDER, which was racing to the inside of SKYROCKETS, became unbalanced when crowded for room by that horse.

The Stewards opened and immediately adjourned an inquiry into the reason for T H So being dislodged from SILVERFIELD near the 1300 Metres due to T H So being transported to hospital.

Rounding the Home Turn, NOBLE ALPHA (M Chadwick) and NORTHERN FALLS bumped on a number of occasions due to NOBLE ALPHA attempting to shift to the outside of GOAL FOR GOLD into clear running and NORTHERN FALLS holding its ground.

M Chadwick was advised that whilst competitive riding is encouraged, he must ensure that he exercises due care when attempting to force runs.

Near the 350 Metres, BIG BANG BONG was steadied when crowded for room between NOBLE ALPHA which shifted in when continuing to race tight inside NORTHERN FALLS and BISHOP??S LEAP which shifted out.

BISHOP??S LEAP had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.

For the majority of the race, GOAL FOR GOLD travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SKYROCKETS had bled from both nostrils and that BIG BANG BONG had sustained a cut above the right hock.

A veterinary inspection of HAPPY CONTENDER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GOAL FOR GOLD, VANILLA and IMPERIAL GALLANTRY were sent for sampling.
