Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Jumbo Happiness came on strongly after peeling out rounding the final bend following a rail's run in midfield to mow down Cheer Win in the final few metres for a maiden win at his sixth outing. It wasn't a strong race but the move to blinkers did do its job and he's still open to improvement. Cheer Win slipped the field by nearly three lengths at the 250m after leading from the wide gate and was nipped close to home. At only three years of age, he's still learning and can add to an earlier win at Sha Tin if he remains in the grade. Good Companion was given every chance in the box-seat and only held his ground while wandering under pressure. He may need a move to blinkers to keep his focus on the race. Dr Race was no threat to the placegetters following a one-out, oneback run but was clearly next best. He's gone all right in two starts following a fetlock injury but may need to drop a few points more to reach a desirable level. Fair Comment ran on from midfield to finish a distant fifth in an improved effort with a switch to the Valley but will require more time and experience. Carefree Let Go never ran on from behind midfield. He's pretty ordinary and prefers Sha Tin.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (491)-POK FU LAM HANDICAP (Sec1) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

On arrival at the Start, it was noted that CAREFREE LET GO had lost its right front plate.

After this plate was refitted, CAREFREE LET GO was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE began awkwardly and then was crowded for room between FORTUNE BROTHERS and CAREFREE LET GO which shifted out.

After this, EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE was steadied and shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier.

CAREFREE LET GO was ridden along in the early stages, however, failed to muster speed.

GODSPEED began awkwardly and then became unbalanced after being bumped by JUMBO HAPPINESS which shifted out.

DOUBLE DOUBLE began only fairly and then lost ground after being bumped by GOOD CHOICE AHEAD which shifted out.

From a wide barrier, RAPIDASH was steadied in the early stages and then passing the 900 Metres was left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the 600 Metres, DOUBLE DOUBLE was awkwardly placed behind CAREFREE LET GO and then making the turn a short distance later shifted out away from the heels of that horse, resulting in EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE being taken wider.

GODSPEED made the turn after the 600 Metres awkwardly, shifted out and bumped CAREFREE LET GO.

Near the 450 Metres, GODSPEED and CAREFREE LET GO again made contact.

GODSPEED then made the Home Turn awkwardly, shifted out and was awkwardly placed inside CAREFREE LET GO.

Rounding the Home Turn, RAPIDASH and FAIR COMMENT were taken wider by JUMBO HAPPINESS which shifted out to obtain clear running.

Over the concluding stages, GOOD CHOICE AHEAD was awkwardly placed inside the heels of GODSPEED.

A veterinary inspection of CAREFREE LET GO and GOOD CHOICE AHEAD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

JUMBO HAPPINESS and CHEER WIN were sent for sampling.
