Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (108) - NEW LANTAO BUS (1973) SERVICE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
WONDERFUL FIGHTER began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped GRACE HEART.
From wide barriers, SUNNY DRAGON, DOLLAR REWARD and FAIRY TWINS were all steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
After the 1100 Metres, SUNNY DRAGON got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HARBOUR ALERT.
After the 900 Metres, SUNNY DRAGON got its head up when travelling keenly.
At the 700 Metres, BIG TIME BABY shifted out away from the heels of HAPPY BAO BEI and bumped DOUBLE VALENTINE.
After this, DOUBLE VALENTINE was left racing wide and without cover.
HARBOUR ALERT travelled keenly in the middle stages.
Passing the 250 Metres and again approaching the 100 Metres, BIG TIME BAY and DOUBLE VALENTINE brushed.
Close to the finishing line, FAIRY TWINS, which was finishing off the race strongly, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOOD COMPANION when racing tight inside GRACE HEART.
Because of this, FAIRY TWINS was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
A veterinary inspection of WONDERFUL FIGHTER immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg.
Before being allowed to race again, WONDERFUL FIGHTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
WONDERFUL FIGHTER, GOOD COMPANION and HARBOUR ALERT were sent for sampling.
GENERAL:
1.
Races 7 and 8 were each put back 5 minutes.
2.
Trainer M J Freedman was fined the sum of $2,000 for entering AASHIQUI in the stalls test tomorrow when such horse was unbranded.
3.
Omission from Racing Incidents Report of 8 October 2017 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 10 (100) Despite being ridden along in the early stages, CALIFORNIA JOY failed to muster speed.
4.
Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 8 October 2017 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of AMAZING STAR, ALCARI, LUCKY LUCKY, AMRITSARIA, LE PANACHE, MULTIGOGO, E MASTER, AMBITIOUS HEART, REAL DEAL, WINNER ST PAUL'S, GOLDEN CANNON, RED HORSE, ENDEARING, RATTAN, WINWIN RUBY, GRAN MASTER, SPICY KAKA, IMPERIAL CONCORDE, MYTHICAL EMPEROR, FANTASTIC EIGHT, DIVINE BOY, RED MARVEL, FIFTY FIFTY and RACING SUPERNOVA revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of GRADE ONE, FLYING NOBLE, GORGEOUS AGAIN, GORGEOUS KING, HO HO FEEL, BOSSIEE, STAR OF PATCH, A BEAUTIFUL, VICTORY MASTER, WIN FOR CHARITY, MORETHANLUCKY, JING JING WIN, BRAVO WATCHMAN, D B PIN, DASHING FELLOW, NOT LISTENIN'TOME, BEAUTY GENERATION, SEASONS BLOOM, RELENTLESS ME, APOLLO'S CHOICE, INVINCIBLE FRESH, PINGWU SPARK and SOUTHERN LEGEND (1.10.17) proved negative.
SUMMARY:
1.
Withdrawal Race 6: SIR REDALOT at barriers due to its rider not being fit to ride.
2.
Riding Change After being dislodged from SIR REDALOT in Race 6, M L Yeung was stood down by the Club's Racing Medical Officer.
As such, permission was given for Z Purton to be substituted as the rider of DOLLAR REWARD in Race 8.
3.
Fines Race 1: K C Leung (FORTUNE BROTHERS): $5,000 for unnecessary use of the whip on a horse clearly out of contention.
Race 3: N Rawiller (LOVE CHUNGHWA): $15,000 for careless riding near the 1000 Metres.
General: Trainer M J Freedman (AASHIQUI): $2,000 for entering the horse in the stalls test when it was unbranded.
4.
Severe Reprimand Race 4: N Rawiller (SHARP SAILOR) re the manner in which he rode his mount out over the concluding stages.
5.
Warning Race 5: Apprentice H N Wong (CURLING LUXURY) for steadying the tempo too abruptly passing the 1050 Metres.
6.
Suspensions Race 3: N Rawiller (LOVE CHUNGHWA) for careless riding near the 1000 Metres (from 1 November 2017 until 6 November 2017 on which day he may resume race riding - 2 Hong Kong racedays).
Race 4: N Callan (KING OF MONGOLIA) for careless riding passing the 250 Metres (from 29 October 2017 until 2 November 2017 on which day he may resume race riding - 2 Hong Kong racedays).

Good Companion kept finding off a light weight after pressed forward to lead 650m out from a tricky gate to notch a second win from four runs this term. He loves the Valley but the task might be harder carrying more weight next time out. Harbour Alert came on well after travelling one off in midfield to just get the better of Big Time Baby for second. He's was off the raider after two dull runs on the dirt but does usually hold his form for a few runs when coming right. Specked late Big Time Baby finished well after travelling fore of midfield to make it close for second in a vastly-improved run at only his fourth local start. He's heading in the right direction. Grace Heart had no excuse following a prominent run along the fence. He's likely on or near his mark. Dollar Reward came on nicely after settling second from the rear from a wide gate sporting first-time blinkers. He isn't far off a win. Fairy Twins was getting going late near the inside.
