Well-backed Shining Gem still got up in the last stride for the win despite being badly held up for a run until the 250m following a patient ride second from the rear. All In Mind did everything right but get the win after hitting the front 200m out following a box-seat run. Favourite Lucky Express had his chance after peeling out at the 250m following a one-off run in midfield. He's been in the mix in both starts and still a youngster with improvement to come. Highly Proactive grudgingly gave way after reclaiming the lead from Moment Of Power 300m out. He needs his own way in front. Massive Pocket's move from near the back came up flat 100m out. He seems to be more effective nowadays at the Valley but was stepping out off a career high in the ratings. Magic Legend came up one-paced after copping a check 200m out following a rail run worse than midfield. He had an excuse as did Mr Croissant who missed the start by five lengths.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eleven: (799) - YAN CHAU TONG HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters

Just prior to the start being effected, MR CROISSANT lunged at the front gates and then as the gates opened was very slow to jump and lost a significant amount of ground.

Before being allowed to race again, MR CROISSANT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.

ALL IN MIND got its head up on jumping.

MAGIC LEGEND shifted out at the start and bumped HIGHLY PROACTIVE.

MASSIVE POCKET shifted out at the start and bumped LUCKY EXPRESS.

From wide barriers, ARMANDO and SHINING GEM were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover in the early stages.

Approaching the 900 Metres, LUCKY EXPRESS became unbalanced when crowded for room between ALL IN MIND which shifted out to prevent causing interference to SAUL'S SPECIAL and GOLDEN DASH which shifted in marginally before being directed out to relieve the tightening to LUCKY EXPRESS.

This resulted in LUCKY EXPRESS being awkwardly placed close to the heels of ALL IN MIND.

MASSIVE POCKET, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.

Passing the 500 Metres, SHINING GEM was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MAGIC LEGEND.

Near the 350 Metres, LUCKY EXPRESS got its head on the side and lay in before being directed to the outside of ALL IN MIND to obtain clear running.

SHINING GEM was held up for clear running until approaching the 300 Metres.

J Moreira (LUCKY EXPRESS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching and passing the 150 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of MAGIC LEGEND, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

J Moreira was suspended from riding in races for the racemeeting to be conducted at Happy Valley on Wednesday, 15 July 2020.

In addition, Jockey Moreira was fined $150,000.

Over the final 100 Metres, LUCKY EXPRESS raced greenly and shifted ground on a number of occasions.

Throughout the race, GOLDEN DASH travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of MR CROISSANT and GOLDEN DASH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

LUCKY EXPRESS, SHINING GEM and ALL IN MIND were sent for sampling.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 1 July 2020 The Veterinary Surgeon reported that LORIZ was lame in its left front leg on the day after racing.

Before being allowed to race again, LORIZ will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of ADONIS, YEE CHEONG LUCKY, EXPONENTS, TREASURE CHEST, RED BRICK FIGHTER, KELMIMI WINS, LADY FIRST, LEADING FORTUNE, TRIPLE TRIPLE, EPTIWINS, BEAUTY ANGEL, CIRCUIT NUMBER ONE, TRUE LEGEND, MONKEY JEWELLERY, THOU SHALL SING, STAR SUPERIOR, MIG ENERGY, FALCON TURBO, EXCELLENT PROPOSAL, COLUMBUS COUNTY, BUTTERFIELD, CHEERFUL LEADER, PRECISE EXPRESS, EASY GO EASY WIN, WINNING DREAMER and METRO WARRIOR revealed no apparent abnormality.
