Racing Incident Report
Race Nine: (828) - CHEONG MING HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters
YEE CHEONG BABY began only fairly and a short distance after the start was crowded for room between RACING FIGHTER which was taken in by SHINING ACE which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider and SAUL'S SPECIAL which was taken out by ENCORE BOY.
HIGHLAND FORTUNE shifted out at the start and bumped SUNNY BOY, causing HIGHLAND FORTUNE to become badly unbalanced.
After this, from a wide barrier, HIGHLAND FORTUNE was steadied to obtain cover.
Also from the outside barrier, WINNING METHOD was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, SAUL'S SPECIAL became unbalanced and lost ground when being checked away from the heels of ENCORE BOY.
Passing the 1100 Metres, YEE CHEONG BABY was bumped by SHINING ACE.
Making the turn near the 1000 Metres, ENCORE BOY momentarily raced tight inside YEE CHEONG BABY which lay in.
Passing the 900 Metres, SHINING ACE was steadied away from the heels of VICTORIAM which shifted in when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SPARKLING DRAGON.
Approaching the 400 Metres, YEE CHEONG BABY (Apprentice C L Chau) shifted out and raced tight inside SUNNY BOY.
Then near the 350 Metres, YEE CHEONG BABY momentarily raced in restricted room between VICTORIAM and SUNNY BOY which lay in.
After the race, Apprentice Chau stated that after coming under pressure near the 400 Metres, YEE CHEONG BABY gave ground noticeably in the Straight and did not feel comfortable in its action.
A veterinary inspection of YEE CHEONG BABY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Before being allowed to race again, YEE CHEONG BABY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Near the 100 Metres, UGLY WARRIOR shifted out under pressure.
SPARKLING DRAGON shifted out away from that horse, resulting in ENCORE BOY being inconvenienced.
After the race, V Borges reported that his saddle shifted back on SUNNY BOY which at various stages throughout the race travelled wide and without cover, placing him at a disadvantage.
Also after the race, SAUL'S SPECIAL (Apprentice K H Chan) was found to be marked.
Apprentice Chan was fined the sum of $7,500.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into consideration that Apprentice Chan had previously been penalized this season for a like offence.
A veterinary inspection of SUNNY BOY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WALDORF and HIGHLAND FORTUNE were sent for sampling.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 12 July 2020 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of KELMIMI WINS, ADONIS, MIGHTY VALOR, VIGOR CHAMP, MONKEY JEWELLERY, SMART CHARADE, CIRCUIT HASSLER, LEADING FORTUNE, GENERAL'S DELIGHT, FAST MOST FURIOUS, PRECIOUSSHIP, NATURAL STORM, MANAGEMENT STAR, SKY FIELD, CLASSIC POSH, SUMSTREETSUMWHERE, SO WE JOY, MR ALDAN, THE ROCK, SUPER OASIS, MONGOLIAN KING, HEZA BEAUTY, PRIVATE ROCKET, ALCARI, WINNING BREW, GOOD LUCK FRIEND and SMART LEADER revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of CHANCHENG PRINCE, ENCHANTING START, MY SUGAR, MORE THAN ENOUGH, SUPER MISSION, ENJOYABLE SUCCESS, HAY RUN, FORTUNE PATROL, JOYFUL FORTUNE, FABULOUS EIGHT, SUPER ALLIANCES, EIGHT TRIGRAMS, STRIKING MR C, SKY SHOW, UTOPIA LIFE, ENSHRINED, PERFECT PAIR, MISSION SMART, SUNNY BOY, ELITE PATCH, SO WE JOY, CHEVALIER PRINCE, AWE, CIRCUIT GLORY, LUCKY EXPRESS, SHINING GEM and ALL IN MIND (5.7.20) proved negative.

Waldorf showed a scintillating turn of foot to get up in the final few strides to overhaul favourite Highland Fortune following a patient ride second from the rear. He loves this trip and was suited by the good pace in front. Highland Fortune did everything right but get the win after hitting the front 100m out following a midfield run. He's really turned his career around following a switch to the Valley. Shining Ace fanned wide out than he probably would have liked at the top of the straight following a one-off run in midfield but still finished nicely to beat Winning Method for third. Winning Method closed well to just miss a placing after settling one-off behind midfield from a wide gate. He does appear to have room to head higher off his current mark. Punted late Victoriam ran on steadily to just finish out of the placings after a one-off run better than midfield. It was always going to be a harder test carrying more weight following a last-start win.
