Race Three: (13) - DEEP WATER BAY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters
FLYING DRAGON began only fairly and then on jumping was steadied away from the heels of HIGH RISE SOLDIER which shifted in.
VALIANT ELEGANCE and SUPER VINCE began only fairly.
From an outside barrier, LUCKY QUALITY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 900 Metres, SUPER VINCE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of WILD WEST WING.
Near the 750 Metres, WILD WEST WING was steadied away from the heels of TRADER which shifted out.
After this, WILD WEST WING travelled wide and without cover.
Passing the 700 Metres, ELON was momentarily awkwardly placed behind WILD WEST WING.
After the 700 Metres, FLYING DRAGON got its head on the side and lay in and brushed the running rail near the 650 Metres.
Near the 550 Metres, WILD WEST WING was shifted out away from the heels of SUPER VINCE which got its head on the side and made the turn awkwardly.
After this, SUPER VINCE (Z Purton) continued to lay out making the turns.
After the race, Z Purton reported that SUPER VINCE raced greenly and lay out in the middle stages after getting on its wrong lead leg.
He was of the opinion that SUPER VINCE would benefit from tonight's race having in mind that the horse has not previously trialed at Happy Valley.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER VINCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

VALIANT ELEGANCE and TRADER were sent for sampling.

Valiant Elegance took control near the 100m after recovering from a sluggish start to travel in the box seat. He's still not finished after racking up four wins last season. Favourite Trader stayed on well for second without threatening the winner after a prominent run one off the fence. He lived up to a positive trial for his new trainer. Super Axiom held on for a minor placing after bowling along in front as expected. Flying Dragon ran on steadily along the inside after saving ground in midfield to fill the frame without threatening the top three. Awesome Treasure weakened after a pace-stalking run. He needed the outing after lameness in February. Specked late, High Rise Soldier was getting going late from towards the rear. He'll be a force to be reckoned with if he finds his way into Class Four over a more suitable 1,200m. Lucky Quality ran on without menacing near the inside from the rear of the field. He requires rating relief and a longer trip. Newcomer Super Vince just held his ground after a one-off trip in midfield with late-market support. He needed the experience.
