PHILIP WOO’S FORMLINE
Veteran Keefy was able to back up a closing fifth after a wide trip from behind midfield two runs ago over the Valley 1,650m with a near placing ridden for luck from gate 12. He should map well and will hope a step up to 1,800m can work the oracle. China Win built on a near Valley 1,800m win in December with back-to-back 1,800m successes once across each track. He returns from a heart irregularity but has since trialled fine and needs to win to keep his slim Derby hopes alive. Enthusium has drawn awkwardly for his course debut but should appreciate the step up in distance after making ground late for seventh in a good form race on his local debut over 1,600m and has since had a nice trial to keep him ticking over. Fallon has been disappointing in his five starts this term but is a well-rated runner on the back of a track and trip success off a rating two points higher in April.
TROUBLE IN RUNNING
JUMBO LEGEND (G266) jumped awkwardly. Over the concluding stages had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving into a tight run - Race 468.
KEEFY (G306) rider stated that his instructions were to hold a midfield position. He said from the outside barrier when his mount jumped awkwardly he was obliged to settle further back in the field than intended - Race 472.
LE ZONDA (L110) raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. Trainer confirmed the instructions were to take up a handy position and attempt to obtain cover. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings. Finished tailed out and performance was considered unacceptable. Has since performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and passed an official vet exam - Race 452.
ANOTHER WORLD (K005) shifted in on jumping and bumped a runner - Race 438.
ENTHUSIUM (L107) jumped only fairly, shifted out and bumped a runner. Between the 400M and the 300M was held up for clear running. After obtaining clear running leaving the 300M was again held up for clear running when disappointed for a run and as a result was shifted in near the 100M to secure clear running - Race 443.
EXCELLENCE VALUE (K093) jumped only fairly. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 452.
CHINA WIN (K395) was withdrawn on the day before raceday by order of the Stewards on vet advice (irregular heart rhythm) . Has since performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and passed an official vet exam - Race 443.
MIGHTY STRENGTH (H450) from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages - Race 465.
RELIABLE PROFIT (G462) prior to declaring weighed-in Trainer viewed the patrol films to ascertain if there were grounds for a protest/objection following the horse being heavily bumped near the 100M. When trainer declined to lodge a protest/objection and the Stewards were satisfied there were not sufficient grounds weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when racing tight - Race 452.
DEFINITIVE (K037) near the 400M made contact with a runner when disappointed for clear running. Lay out under pressure over the final 100M - Race 438.
