Boom prospect Cool Boy has drawn widest but was too good from behind midfield despite a rise in class last month for a third consecutive win from four 1,200m starts at Sha Tin. He clearly is heading places and can win again despite a seven-point penalty. Equally exciting Hot Delight has shown different run patterns to remain perfect in two 1,200m Sha Tin starts, including his latest at this level. It makes for a thrilling showdown. Mickley is a winner in waiting with second in his past two of three runs following a downgrade over 1,200m. He will make it close on the wire. Star Rise had flashed ability to fill the frame in his first three 1,200m starts before failing when going against the grain on a biased track when trying 1,400m. He remains one for the shortlist.
STAR RISE (K516) jumped only fairly. Near the 400M was steadied and shifted in to obtain clear running. Rider reported that his mount initially responded to his riding in the early stages of the Home Straight but failed to run on over the final 200M. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 262.
WONDERSTAR (J531) rider stated that the instructions were to go forward. He said shortly after the start his mount became unbalanced when crowded for room and as a consequence settled further back than intended. He added near the 1100M his mount made contact with a runner and that resulted in the horse then racing keenly throughout the early and middle stages and refusing to settle. Trainer confirmed the instructions were to go forward and lead. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 513.
MATZDEN (L133) rider stated that he was able to hold a position outside the lead in the early stages but in the Home Straight his mount did not respond to his riding. He added that the horse, which was having its third race start in Hong Kong, is still immature. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 505.
Hot Delight led and wasn't tested when a close second to Baby Sakura in a recent dirt trial.
