PHILIP WOO’S FORMLINE

Thou Shall Sing didn't disgrace in two of his past four over the 1,400m and returns to sprinting over his favourite Valley course here. He goes well fresh and can have a say in the finish from a good gate. Takingufurther needs to lift carrying more weight but following up a front-running third with a switch to the Valley with a pace-stalking win over Junzi and likely has a bit more improvement to come. He's ideally drawn and is a pace factor. Hero Time didn't click at a mile in June and will need luck from his gate but had come right to place in two prior C&D starts, including a close second behind the promising Reliable Team, and is one to leave out at your ow peril. Newcomer Smart Of Youth might want a further trip in time as a half-brother to a New Zealand Oaks winner but showed good gate speed to win his latest trial on the dirt. He can place.

TROUBLE IN RUNNING

HERO TIME (B010)post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings, however, was unable to be scoped due to being fractious - Race 763 GRAND HARBOUR (P421)at the start was bumped - Race 015 LIGHTNING TREASURE (B259)approaching the 250M raced tight Approaching the 50M bumped a runner The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in as they were of the prima facie view that an incident occurred inside the final 100M which cast sufficient doubt on whether the horse should be declared the winner Subsequently the rider of the dead heat 2nd placegetter, lodged a protest/objection against the horse being declared the winner alleging interference inside the final 100M It was found that after being inconvenienced by the dead heat 2nd placegetter as that horse shifted out approaching the 150M, the horse shifted in approaching the 50M and bumped the dead heat 2nd placegetter, resulting in that horse becoming unbalanced The dead heat 2nd placegetter then raced tight inside the horse as that horse continued to shift in Then close to the finishing line, the horse was shifted out away from the dead heat 2nd placegetter As the Stewards were satisfied that at the time that the contact occurred between the dead heat 2nd placegetter and the horse approaching the 50M due to the horse shifting in, that horse had already gained a narrow margin over the dead heat 2nd placegetter after coming from behind that horse in the early part of the Straight Having regard to the manner in which the horses were finishing off their respective races both prior and subsequent to the interference occurring, the Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had the contact between the horses not occurred, the dead heat 2nd placegetter would have finished in front of the horse Accordingly, the objection was overruled and weighed-in given on the numbers as semaphored by the Judge - Race 800 THOU SHALL SING (B047)throughout the race travelled wide and without cover - Race 754 SHAMPORT (B167)when questioned regarding the poor performance, rider stated that he was able to take up a forward position outside the eventual winner in the early stages without having to make any use of the horse He said the horse travelled well until near the 600M at which time it commenced to lay out He said the horse then got its head on the side and hung out making the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight at which time its action deteriorated He said he continued to ride the horse along in the early part of the Straight, however, it gave ground noticeably and as he was concerned there may be something amiss with the horse, he eased it down over the latter stages of the race - Race 772 TRUST ME (C134)after passing the 600M lost ground when reluctant to hold its position - Race 742 KANBEKI MOLLY (C256)after the 800M was left racing wide and without cover and subsequently finished tailed out - Race 791
